Nerdfighters

Sad panda bear. I thought there would be more robotnerds.
I guess that's what Chief Delphi is for though.
Anyway, I figured I might start a discussion to get this group moving!
Hi, I'm Roxy, I'm on team 1983! From Seattle.
I'm one of the webmasters.
What I like about robots is how ridiculous you and your team look with cellphone cameras out taking a picture when you "finish" building them.
Tell me about you and your team.

I was a scout person for Team 440 for 4 years was i was involved in the robotics and yes I am familiar with Chief Delphi!

I loved it since i was involved in it and I remember going to the Regionals then other teams were telling me wait until you go the Nationals, which i never been to until 2004 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Oh when I went to the pit area, i was thinking ok where is my team....i was just amazed like the rows of teams.

Oh fixing your robots when something went wrong, other teams lending you their tools. oh i loved the mascots too and the wave hand thingy in the crowd when you stand up and everyone moves and cheers.

Oh yeah i remember rolling out your robots down a hallway and take i did not take pictures but it's amazing like you have six weeks to build it

That's what i love about it! It's in my blood!
I was one of the founding members of Team 1503 Spartonics from Niagara Falls Canada. I started on the web team back in 2005 (triple play) but started helping the build team and eventually became the base driver. I drove the robot in 05 and 06. I still help out the team as a mentor.

There are so many things I love about robotics I can't even begin to list them.
Hey guys I'm Tod. Yay for Team 703 Phoenix! I've been involved for 2 years and now am a mentor. I was part of the build team and pretty much made half the robot on my own, Jk I had help. Ummm...... We lost our website between 2008 and 2009 so yesterday I made our new one here on the ning! Problems all over for our robot. Losing Sponsorship money, Delphi is kinda tightening their belt and had to drop back on funding.... a lot. Um... I dont know what else. If you want specifics I'll gladly dig them up for you. (>o_O)> FREE HUGS!!!
Team 1070 royal robotrons!!!!! from California! I'm on the build team.... because I felt like working at caltech instead of our tiny computer lab!
I'm on Team 1717, the D'Penguineers from California! I am the head of the electrical team and am on the pneumatics team. Our team won the Long Beach regional last week which means that we're going to Atlanta!!! ^_^
Yay D'Penguineers! I don't know how long you've been on your team, but do you remember the Cyber Penguins? (585) I remember a particularly awesome regional with you guys where both of our teams came all the way down to the floor and had an awesome time cheering right next to the field(I think it was in San Diego, 2007(?)).
Our team is made up of all seniors, so there is a new team each year. I have a friend who was on the team in 2008 who remembers cheering with you guys. Go penguins!
Oh yeah, I forgot about the all-senior thing...

Good luck in Atlanta!

Woah, hello fellow 1717 member! I'm on the 2011 team, minibot subgroup :-)

William and I found your note while we were inventory-ing, but we didn't have a real e-team this year :-(

I'm Nick, and I used to be on Team 585! (The Cyber Penguins)
I was on the programming team for three years - each year was slightly different
My first year was when i was a soph, and my friend michael and I were the only coders at that time, and nobody was there to really teach us how to code, so that was fun...lots of research that year.
My second year I didn't really do much coding until near to the end of the season, I spent most of the season making a manipulator that we ended up not using.
In my third and final year as an official member I did more coding than the previous year, but I was also president, so I couldn't dedicate all of my time to it, unfortunately.

All three years were absolutely fantastic, and I had a great time.

I did come back during the beginning of last year's season, but my college semester started two weeks in, so I couldn't help out after that.

One of my favorite things about working on the team is all of the crazy things that happen, especially towards the very end of the season. We even made a holiday we named "Long Moose", which takes place during the last week of the build season. We added all sorts of details involving stories about Programmaclaus and his code-fixing elves, among many other things.

Also, I recently heard my team came in second in the Vegas regional, and won the Chairman's Award! I congratulate them and wish them good luck in Atlanta, of course.

so...yeah :D

EDIT: oh crap that was WAY longer than I intended
We're a rookie team in SoCal, team 3328. You may remember us as the one (or one of the ones) with the freakishly long range kicker. I'm Dex, and I do pneumatics/documentation/general build team stuff.
Ahh! I hope the starter of this discussion comes back to see this, because our teams go to the same regional.

Anyway, I'm Kori, Team Captain/President of team 2903 from Arlington, WA.
I work mostly with our Electrical/Programming team, and write all of the blog posts that go on our team website.

I only got into robotics last year, and at that time, I was the only Junior and the only girl on our team.

My favorite part was the first day of competition last year, because I had absolutely no idea what to expect, but on the way into the main floor area of where competition was, all I remember at first was being hit "by a super wave of nerdy energy." Of all of the things I said about the robotics experience, that one quote (likely the least intelligent-sounding thing I've said) was the thing that the rep from the school paper decided to directly quote me on.

Since then, I've totally fallen in love with everything, and I'm so excited for this year.
