rewatching the series in preperation for season three. i nearly cried when every one was saying goodbye and that they would see each other again

I've gotten about a half dozen people to buy all the books since season 2 hit the airwaves...tempted to dissect differences and break it down a bit in a short series...worth it or too many random review shows out there already?  (note: my time is primarily divided between studying film and books xD)

Well, I'm a firm believer in reading ALL THE WORDS, so I say read books one and two before jumping to three.  There are some extra scenes and details that the show leaves out, plus you get a lot insight into what individual characters think and what motivates them.  The show can't do inner monologues like George R.R. Martin does it.  Plus, his writing is beautiful.

Now I finished both season and I want to start reading the books. Should I start with book 1 or could I continue and start reading book 3?

I was reading the 5th book on my iPod touch but then I lost it! I was half way through T_T Gotta go buy the book or wait for the library :3

I've already seen the HBO show, but I've just started reading the first book and I can't believe how much I'm obsessing about it right now.
