-The Gay Straight Alliance is a group of people (usually students in high school, but here on the ning now as well!) that provides a safe place for people to talk and support eachother concerning discrimination, violence, and predjusice against gays, lesbians, bisexuals,transgender, or questioning individuals.
What does the Gay Straight Alliance do?
-create safe environments in communities to support each other and learn about homophobia and other oppressions,
-educate the community about homophobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues, and
-fight discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools ext.

Yes, we've discussed ball before, and she's a nerdfighter. She doesn't have a tumblr or account here, but she follows him on twitter and watches vlogbrothers religiously.
I'm just trying to get the question in front of John, to try and make this as amazing as I can for her. =]

a slightly belated welcome Elena!
not to be a giant buzzkill, but 1 does she like girls and 2 is she a Nerdfighter... cause if you're not sure if there's any chance she'd like you (enough to be your ball date) you might be better off going small and starting with that.
also, all of the Nerdfighters in the world, and John himself aren't going to get the question in front of her if she's not following him on any front.

Sarah- In the middle eastern countries a couple of them gays are being killed and the governments will do nothingbecause they are part of the Muslim religion.

It has recently come to my attention that some countries that you would expect to be more open about gay rights are actually quite conservative and have been making really controvertial laws :S I heard that in St.Petersburg in russia they passed a law (or somehting along the lines I dont know the exact facts atm) that people cannot speak, disscuss, or admit being gay.. what is that about? I thought we were moving into the 21st century into a more civilized and well... open minded society... :S

Jessica- Ask if she's dating anyone outright. I know it seems a bittoo forward but if she says yes, just say you were wondering and being friendly.
