I am now reading HBP, ch2, where Snape tells Bellatrix that I prefered to teach DADA instead of Potions and suddenly, I realized why. Be cause it is his biggest talent. Defence against dark arts. Against Voldemort, against Legitimacy. He would teach his way of life (hypothetically). What do you guys think about that? Am I right, or not? (Of course I do know that he's also, in some way, a lover of the dark magic.)

@Emma, I don't remember how old I was, but my first memory of Harry Potter was my older sister reading the first book when we were camping.  I wasn't all that interested, but I wanted to prove to her that I WAS old enough to read it.  But she kept on pulling out the biggest words she could find to convince me that it was too hard.  (Silly older sister syndrome...)  And then when the fourth book came out, my parents bought it for me for Christmas and that was that - I was hooked.

Here's another question:  How do people feel about the audio books?  Jim Dale or Stephen Fry?  Personally, I've never listened to the Stephen Fry ones, only having access to the American ones, but I've listened to them so many times that I now read the entire books in Jim Dale's voice.  I love it.  I used to listen to them over and over while cleaning my room or knitting and stuff.

not really Emma.  to be honest, i wasn't all that interested when the first couple books came out...my younger brother and some of my cousins were though.  i did get quite hooked through the first two movies though, and having friends by the end of highschool and into college who were huge fans helped.

I first knew about Harry Potter in the back of my small Catholic school's library, at about 7 years old. I saw Harry and how he was bullied at school and his family was messed up and I connected to that; the HP books gave me much inspiration and refuge from the trouble that I had. In addition it gave me roll models: Hermione and Tonks mostly, and Snape too (all are wonderfully smart, and taught me to be loyal, to never give up, and to always hold onto who you really are). Things have gotten better, my high school really is a sort of Hogwarts (I had a flashback to the time I stayed up till midnight on my eleventh birthday for the Hogwarts letter when I got my high school acceptance letter at age 13 and 1/2)...that's how HP has been such a big part of my life and still is.

When I'm not in the middle of rereading the Harry Potter books and someone asks me what my favourite book is, I usually say GOF but then go 'oh but I love OOTP...'
but every time I read HBP I'm like I LOVE THIS BOOK :D
so essentially I hate this question cause I can't decide!!!
Does everyone remember where they were the first time they heard of Harry Potter? Ah those innocent times...

There's already a Doctor Who wall at my university...maybe I'll start a Harry Potter one!
