@Heather I re-read Deathly Hallows recently, and I think he says that in the US version, too. I had no idea what those were so thanks for telling me xD
@Chelsea omg there's a store here in my town that sells Wine Gums, they're so delicious.

Wow, I've missed a lot of discussion... Where to start...
@ Kinz, I wish I could go to London! I'm thinking about going there for a few years after college... I'll have to see what my financial situation is, though.
@ Chelsea, I want to see the part about Wine Gums! That's awesome! J.K. you never cease to amaze me...
@ emma, I'd love to get Wine Gums for Christmas! I've never had them before, but I imagine they're like Gummy Life Savers, here? Correct me if I'm wrong. However, I don't have any way to pay you... Even if I had the money, I don't have a paypal or anything. *siiigh* I need monies... Wine Gums...
And my personal favourites are: Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix, UK versions, and Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix, and Half-Blood Prince, American versions.
Wow... That's a lot of information... Kay BYEBYEBYEBYEBYEBYEBYEBYE!

I have been reading the british versions and have had to look up a few slang words I didn't understand.
The most recent was in Deathly Hallows courtesy of Ron.
"And what in the name of Merlin’s most baggy Y Fronts was that about?”

Y fronts?
A quick google tells me that y fronts are briefs.

I Didn't think there was much difference between american and british version of the book except Philosophers being turned into Sorcerers? WHy did they do that? Because the meanings are so different - Do you honestly not know what a Philosopher is?

And i find it quite funny that british people know quite alot of american slang - yet american's dont seem to know a lot of ours - Is that true?
I love wine gums - though havent been able to eat them for years - since i'm a vegetarian :/
@Emma - Deathly Hallows obviously the best - I dont hate you - i agree he looks a bit strange :P (Stephen Fry is Epic)

@chelsea - woah! america doesn't know about wine gums? seriously? i love wine gums more than chocolate! if any one in america want's some wine gums for christmas i'd be happy to send you some (:

speaking of slangs etc, i think i have mentioned/asked this before but does anyone listen to the audiobooks? stephen fry, wow, he does it SO GOOD! all the accents are PERFECT! i mean, not even the actors in the movies can pull it off as well as fry can! i've actually listened more than reading the books (since i listen all the time).

@milly despite that harry looks a bit funny (i'm sorry!!! its ok, you can hate me for this. i guess i would if anyone told me that swedish-harry looked funny) on the first and second book. in general i really like the covers! i have deathly hallows in this version. goblet + azkaban are really nice! love the colours! which one is your personal favourite? (:

Wine Gums? I so don't remember that. *goes back to check all the books*.
Chelsea Comment by Chelsea on December 10, 2009 at 12:45pm
@genericfirstname that is rather annoying. but i feel that way about any fandom. i never visited a site or talked about HP anywhere until i finished the books.
you don't get to be "nerd" of something just by merely knowing of its existence and mentioning it!
i've watched a couple Star Trek movies, but that doesn't make me a Trekkie... Trekker... whatever.
Chelsea Comment by Chelsea on December 10, 2009 at 12:41pm
the British versions have your basic American vs. British terms going on. elevator vs. lift and so on. Plus, there's a mention of Wine Gums. which we all know because of one Charlie McDonnel, but the rest of America has no knowledge of them.
there's probably more, but i can't remember it right now. i've only listened to the audio of the British version.
Kinz Comment by Kinz on December 10, 2009 at 12:34pm
And on the topic of sets/books, I don't have any actual sets but I have a paperback of PS/SS (well, since I'm in the US it's SS) and hardcovers of all the rest. I should probably get a set sometime because they're seriously falling apart. My SS's cover has fallen off, the bindings of PoA and GoF are broken in several places and pages are falling out, etc. They are well-loved and well-read.
