I'm a homeschool alumn. But I love love loved it! Pretty much anyone who I find out was/is homeschooled is an instant friend to me.

my son is 18 now so i am officially done. he's gone to amsterdam. my daughter is 14. she is certainly happy not to go to school.

Unschooling is definitely harder to explain, most people don't get the concept, even if they do get the concept of home schooling. That's really cool that you are unschooling your kids,I hope they are enjoying it! Thanks for the welcome! Hahaha I had no idea there were any other unschoolers here really!that's great to hear!

i unschool my children and i am sure you are wellcome.
panda was unschooled and lets face it unschool is harder to explain than homeschool.

school wasn't anything for me, because I never went. I'm glad to have escaped :-)
I have lived my life as an unschooler ever since I was born, and am eternally thankful to my parents for making that decision. I have never been forced to follow a curriculum, which sets me apart from most homeschoolers as well.
I'm not sure if I am technically welcome in this group, as I am not a homeschooler, but I hope no one minds my presence here! great articles and links, Lee, thanks for sharing!

i read that laws are quite different from state to state,

i bet schools make money from pupils. not just schools. there is a whole industry.
special buildings, furniture, books, almost always useless and barely used, clothes ectr.

Which is where truancy officers come into the picture.
I think the main reason there is not more homeschool is that parents are either working or simply use it as a babysitter.

you can legally homeschool tough. germany remains the only european country where homeschooling is iligal, aparently going back to a law the nazis brought in to make sure nobody escaped brainwashing.
school for me was boring, scary and stressfull.
