The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (and if you like that, the prequel, The Angel's Game)
I really think The Scarlet Letter is worth reading-the treatment of an outcast is still very relevant.
As much as I loathe Ayn Rand's politics Atlas Shrugged is a great book if you can get through the damn thing.
Redwall by Brian Jacques. That series was so much of my childhood...
Alice in Wonderland...'nuff said.
Peter Pan
Going to get off the children's lit now...although if anyone's interested I can list some more, I know a LOT of children's lit.
Morning in the Burned House by Margaret Atwood if you like poetry.
The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet (which are exactly what you think they are. Awesome.)
I don't think I've seen Brave New World by Alduos Huxley here. Another amazing distopia.
Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut. Lots of amazing Vonnegut works, but if you have to pick one, this one's it.
I may have to make up a full list now. XP
