I did this with my friend a couple of months ago. We both went into book stores, and without thinking about it, went to a random section and picked up a random book. We then read our book and talked to each other about them and what we thought of them.
I got "Watch" by Robert J Sawyer. It's the second book in the WWW series (which I didn't know until I'd finished it) and I really enjoyed it.
Basically I've set up this discussion for you guys to do the same, and post what books you got and what you thought of them so we can all talk about them :).
This has got to be the best idea EVER and I Will defiantly do it.
This sounds like an awesome idea, but unfortunately I currently have around 68 unread books on my bookcase 9I have a bit of a book buying addiction) so for now I'm not going to participate...maybe next year when I've managed to make a dent in my reading list lol.
Awesome idea! I think I just might do this.
This does sound lovely!
For me at least, I think it would work a bit better if a friend and I chose each other's books, since I know I would have a difficult time not being biased towards choosing a random section without thinking about it.
Either way, I definitely have too many on my to-read list to even think about adding more, but this is definitely a delightful idea.
Ooh I might give that a go, not to buy just yet because my to-read list is crazy long, but, well, just to add to my to-buy list lol.
That sounds good. I didn't know that existed but it sounds good!
I've currently got 43 books I need to read so I don't think I'll be buying a random one anytime soon but I want to hear about everyone else's finds :)
I am DEFINITELY trying this the next time I go into the bookstore. Does it count as cheating if you go into a section that you usually go in? Instead of randomly going into a section that you know you won't like?
