I did this with my friend a couple of months ago. We both went into book stores, and without thinking about it, went to a random section and picked up a random book. We then read our book and talked to each other about them and what we thought of them.
I got "Watch" by Robert J Sawyer. It's the second book in the WWW series (which I didn't know until I'd finished it) and I really enjoyed it.
Basically I've set up this discussion for you guys to do the same, and post what books you got and what you thought of them so we can all talk about them :).
Good luck!

Permalink Reply by Becky Kean on June 16, 2012 at 5:43pm This sounds like an awesome idea, but unfortunately I currently have around 68 unread books on my bookcase 9I have a bit of a book buying addiction) so for now I'm not going to participate...maybe next year when I've managed to make a dent in my reading list lol.

For me at least, I think it would work a bit better if a friend and I chose each other's books, since I know I would have a difficult time not being biased towards choosing a random section without thinking about it.
Either way, I definitely have too many on my to-read list to even think about adding more, but this is definitely a delightful idea.
Permalink Reply by Becky Kean on June 22, 2012 at 3:22pm Ooh I might give that a go, not to buy just yet because my to-read list is crazy long, but, well, just to add to my to-buy list lol.
Permalink Reply by Oli Cliffe on June 23, 2012 at 9:45am That sounds good. I didn't know that existed but it sounds good!
I've currently got 43 books I need to read so I don't think I'll be buying a random one anytime soon but I want to hear about everyone else's finds :)
