Are there any books people refuse to read? Either because the author is awful or just on principal?

I can't think of any... yet. There may be a few on principal but I would usually try to approach a book with an open mind. How can you judge a book by its cover?

Bravo.
Ditto.
When Twilight first showed up in the bookstore, I looked at the back of it and declared right there that it looked horrible, and I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot-pole Then, three years or so later, the 5AG start talking about it nonstop, and I had though Lauren & Kristina had good taste in books, so I decided to read them, and I read all four, and I now regret all the energy I spent on them. I had wanted to see what the big deal was, but when it comes down to it, I wish I had just trusted my instincts and stayed away from it.
thank u, i was wondering whether i should trust my instincts or just read them because my best friend keeps raving about them. Twilight was what i was going to say, so thank u for restoring my faith in myself and confirming that they are rubbish i shouldnt read them
i read the first book before it became a fad becausr there was vampiers. in the end its to much romance and not enough blood.

I decided to read the Twilight series so that I could complain about them knowledgeably because i really hate when people say things like "I hate Harry Potter" when they've never even given it a chance. So i read Twilight and though it's not my favorite book by any meaning of the word it isn't the worst book I've ever read either.

This is exactly my story as well, although my friend told me to read it because of that exact reason.

Am I the only one that didn't find them horrible? I'm not a fangirl or anything, but I thought they were kind of entertaining, they definitely weren't the worst books I've ever read. I don't really regret taking the few days it took to read them.

I've read them. They weren't great but they were tolerable.

Maybe it's because I'm a teenager who reads romance but I don't see why all the hate. Okay, the fangirls are annoying and the films were pretty crap but the books weren't that bad

I refused to read the Twilight books on principle. What principle that was I'm not really sure : )

When the hype kind of died down I decided to try and read them after all. I got halfway through the first book and just gave up because it the characters were so annoying!

I still don't understand why everyone is like - ''it is so easy to read!''. It took me weeks to finish it! I really didn't felt stimulated reading quicker because Bella kept complaining about the weather/her amazing friends or wondering where Edward was.

The way I feel about Twilight is that they are completely awful, but they are the kind of books that you just have to read. Everyone who reads on a regular basis has read them, and they are just those type of books that you need to get through, if not only to say you've read them. I agree that they suck, though.
