Hi, everyone!
I thought it was kind of odd that there were so many Librarians and MLIS students in this network, but that we didn't have a group. So...what would we like to do here? I was thinking advice from you more seasoned professionals, encouragement among those of us still in the MLIS trenches, and some good old healthy networking. Sound good? If anyone has any suggestions or anything, let me know and I'll get on it. Thanks!

library challenge

I have done this four times and only lost once. A reader will come in the library and say they want a good book. I say: "Here," handing them 'The Fault in our Stars' and add, "If you don't like this I will give you a dollar.

The one time it didn't work, the girl didn't read the entire book and I suspect she just wanted the $1 more than she wanted a good book

Hi! I'm so glad I found NerdFighters and this group! I am a reference librarian in a medium sized public library in Pennsylvania. I feel inspired by NerdFighters and am wondering how to incorporate the NF vibe into my job. Nerdfighters seem to be very engaged and thoughtful, like many in the library world. Lately I've been wondering how I might create more content, or help others create content, in my library. I'm not sure what form it would take, which has me stuck. I've always been more of an observer and not a 'creator,' but I hope that may change soon :)

I'm working as a YA librarian in a high school, and it's wonderful.

I'm working toward my MLIS. Glad I found this group! Not sure exactly what I want to do, it's between reference, cataloging or a young adult librarian :)

Would anyone else happen to be a Special Collections Librarian?
