A meaningful Story

The Lord of The Rings is an amazing book and great movies. There are so many lessons that can be learned from these characters. What are some of the most meaningful lessons that one could learn from this book or movies that one could apply to their own life today?
For me there are so many lessons involved. I believe that the two major lessons that stand out in my experience with this story is a lessons on Greed and not being afraid to be your self.
Gollum is the perfect example of what happens to greedy people or in his case Hobbits. Aragorn and all of his troubled past had to learn that just because you are kin to someone does not mean you have the same flaws as them. These are good lessons.

Because in my opinion, Boromir is not a bad person, but by wanting the ring so badly for his own, it made him into someone with some bad character traits.

There is also one lesson, that I am not sure, if it is one. I would call it the 'not all rules do have to be followed' and my (only) example is Eowyn. She is not allowed to go to war, also she could be very capable as a soldier, so she just simple decides to ignore this rule and is very sucessfull in war. I think being a bit rebelious is always good.
