I think that J.K. Rowling totaly copied some stuff from J. R. R. Tolkien. And also from C. S. Lewis. Which is not really weird, because Tolkien and Lewis were, in fact, very good friends and they copied from each other all the time. But the truth is, that I don't really blame Jo, because, well, she's brilliant. Harry Potter BOOKS (i hate the movies) are totaly awsome and that's that.

As for Lord of the Rings, I have to admitt that I yet haven't read the whole book, I'm just reading it now actually and I'm sorry but for now, it's quite dull. But I'm not planing to give up because people say that the battles are written really well, and I absolutely LOVE the movies, so the book ought to be brilliant as well.

the only reason i read LoTR coz ppl kept accusing Harry Potter thats its a copy of LOTR. but yeah, its soooo not a copy. N i fell in love in with LOTR coz if its own reasons. They are quite different.

But i found Brisingr really bad even thought eragon was good over all.

I'm with Nik, on this one. You want painfully blatant copying? Read the first chapter of Eragon...it actually hurt. I stopped reading after meeting the black haired, female elf named Arya...yeah, its that bad. :-)

I'm agreeing with Lauren her, i love Jk and harry potter obviously but the locket in the last book... It's just like the ring, it tries to posess them and make them evil and eventually makes Ron leave... anyone reminded of frodo and sam a little?

to be honest, I think J.K. Rowling is one of the few fantasy authors that doesn't copy obviously from Tolkien. I've read fantasy book that were so much worse and that I couldn't read b/c they were so obviously just compying the master of fantasy...!
With the movies, well, yes, sometimes, but I guess that's okay...

I feel like watching Harry Potter just to laugh at coincidence. I think J.K.Rowling is copying J.R.R.Tolken.
Fellowship of the Ring book: J.R.R.Tolken refers to a "Dark Lord" (VOLDEMORT).
HP movie 6: Did anyone think the Inferi seemed to look a bit like Gollum? And tell me this doesn't look familiar.
