What's going to happen to the journal?
I live about two to three hours (depending on if I'm at school, or one of my parents' homes) from Indianapolis, so John Green comes to my area quite a lot. I was thinking that once the journal comes back to me, I could photocopy all the pages and present John with the original. Then, possibly, I could try to get the photocopied pages into a manuscript, with a proper foreword and attempt to get the journal published!
When will I be sending the journal?
I'm ordering the journal by the end of April 2nd, and then once it comes in I will be creating my entry, once we have a formative idea of how the project should go as far as content, etc- after all, this is a collaborative effort. I also need to create a beginning list of who gets the journal when, if someone would like to assist me with that.
Will there be guidelines/a theme to what will end up in the journal?
Maybe. I'm not quite sure if I like that idea, simply because it might stifle creativity, though I do like the ideas that Rue posted of:
a) Make it about how you made/would like the world to be more awesome
b) Start with the words, Dear Nerdfighteria
c) Your own definition of DFTBA
d) put in a picture of you holding the notebook in your favourite part of your city
Let me know if you have any other ideas!
Okay guys, I know that I ultimately want to get this to John. But do we want to pursue publishing? And how do we want the journal to look? I can order a fancier journal, or one of our more…Continue

Okay, enough people have joined that I can at least get this thing started. I'm ordering the journal this week, but I'll need another week to get my first entry done. I'm doing a forward, and maybe…Continue

Here's my first, small poem that I came up with in the last few minutes... as I try to plan my first entry. I know it's terrible, but I've hit a block... I mainly just wanted to create this…Continue

Comment by Rue on April 1, 2013 at 8:50pm *the suggestions i made are flexible, maybe everyone can vote on which are the best? (How bout a stamp from your country!) and i forgot to mention that after completing the first four tasks, you can add whatever you want, also a page limit may be appropriate to avoid running out of pages and encourage neatness and care when adding each entry
*also don't add organic materials that might cause Quarantine problems, Australia is very picky about that :S
Comment by Rue on April 1, 2013 at 12:14am This is Amazing, this is a terrific idea, there is a risk of losing it but it's like a message in a bottle, and what if, there is one or a few guidelines to keep the entries connected, say
a) Make it about how you made/would like the world to be more awesome or b) Start with the words, Dear Nerdfighteria
c) Your own definition of DFTBA
d) put in a picture of you holding the notebook in your favourite part of your city
any other ideas? +messages can be left on a seperate discussion to track the progress, also what happens to the notebook once it is full?
