Wow... Thanks for all of the heartfelt responses! I've been noodling around on a few instruments lately and trying to get back into the feel of writing music. I'm determined it'll happen again, so thanks for the encouragement!

How can I hear some of your guys' music?

I liked the tune on the video you posted, Ben. Was that yours?

Hi Max

Sorry to hear about your School troubles and computer. I feel like I went threw an almost Identical situation a couple years back. Loosing your work is a traumatic event but it is important to keep in mind that even though you may have lost your work you are still better for having done the work. Just keep writing. The music that you make now will be better than the music you lost because you are better.

If you want some intensive I have a blog thesongclub.com were I post a weekly song writing challenge.(open to everyone) This weeks challenge is to write a song about blame. Songs Are posted every Monday

Hi Max

Have you thought about the acoustic option for now?

Gives the option to busk with local musos wherever you are, and experience different styles?

Hey Max, I understand how hard a year without music can be.  I was a composition major too and graduated.  I then went (and am currently in) to China to teach English thinking I could just keep music on the side and be happy.  For me, this is the worst situation to be in because I gain my inspiration from being around musicians and talking with them about music.  It has been the most depressing year of my life but I feel it has been valuable because I've learned more about how I work.  Inspiration is key so keep finding what makes you tick so you can get back to the music :)

Danno is right. Sometimes when I am having trouble on a piece of music I just leave it alone for a few days and then bam I finally get it. I don't know if it will be the same way for writing music though...

that really sucks Max.  who knows... going back to the drawingboard... or sheetpaper and keyboard, as the case may be, might just prove to be what you needed.

Hi musicians. I'm new. My name is Max. About a year ago now, after completing my first year at New England Conservatory as a Composition major, I dropped out. It's been a rough year, one with very little musical activity. I lost my computer, which had a lot of the music I wrote stored on it, not backed up, but I'm now hoping to start playing and writing music again. I'd love to see what some of you awesome people are doing with music.
