For any goth folk out there, I'd recommend The Damned, The Cure, Siouxsie Sioux, Voltaire, or Bauhaus.  As far as punk music goes, you can't go wrong with some classic hardcore: Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, The Germs, etc. There's also some newer stuff out there, if you look, such as a little band from Fresno, CA called "Straight Edge Kegger," who you can find on Youtube.

And for whatever, grab-baggy sort of music, (my personal fave stuff) I suggest My Chemical Romance, (They're not an 'emo' band, give them a chance.) Mr. Bungle, The Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer, Jason Webley, The Petrojvic Blastinc Co., or Say Anything.

I would recommend listening to  Andy Mckee, Joshua Radin, LIGHTS, Wolfgang, Gregory Alan Isakov, Sick Puppies, Ida Marie, The Matches, The Pink spiders, Head Automatica, Kina Grannis, Dispatch, Middle class rut. These are some of my favorites ^_^
