Nerdfighter D&D Team!

okay, my idea is to play Dungeons and Dragons over the internet, probably using a video chat of some sort. We could either have 1 team or we can form multiple teams.

Okay. Sure, I'd like to see them.

Sorry... Crazy time of year.

@Whale: I personally like Next. It's more RP based. In 4 it can take up to an hour to get through a combat, where in Next you could take that long if that is what your group is into. But, you could also just take the same fight and be done with it in 6 minutes.

Actions are streamlined, and much more open to the DM's discretion. That's where Advantage and Disadvantage come in. Also, expertise dice are nice. And, character creation is more creative in Next than it is in 4.

Also, all the alignments are back.

I have the documents if you'd like to look them over.

That's why I dissapeared actually! Holidays are crazy! :P

And I like the idea of them trying to make something that also appeals to people to who played classic D&D rather than style D&D; but I wish they would have named it something that didn't make it sound like a catchy diet product or something. XD

I hope everyone has had good holidays. :D

I know only a tad bit about Next. It has some gameplay element about advantage and disadvantage, and the guys at Wizards of the Coast are trying to make it appeal to players of all editions, or something like that. I haven't played any of the playtests.

Ethan, does it seem better than 4.0?

Comment by Ethan M on January 1, 2013 at 9:33pm

I've played and run 4.0, and am currently playing 3.5 online. I personally like 4 more.

Though, I've been reading the playtest documents for Next (read 5), and really like that set up.

Talk about basic. This book is so empty compared to the 3.5 and earlier editions handbooks. There's like literally 5 classes. e_e

Oh well! I'll be getting the other ones too.

The Essentials books are the latest updated books.

The 4.e books(such as PH1) can probably be okay. As long as we know the basics, I think we'll be fine.

There is one other book in the essentials line, called the "The Rules Compendium" That book focuses on all the rules and gameplay of 4th edition. It may be helpful to learn more about the edition and such.

Are we going to use the errata? I'm not sure if the newer printings of the PHB have been updated.

I have a subscription to dnd insider, so all my stuff is using it.

yes, dragonborn is in there

Comment by Whale on December 18, 2012 at 7:20pm

Nice. That has all the classic races and classes. The dragonborn race might be in there too.
