I've just started a new blog on valuation. I thought, it's not your common valuation - I'm trying some new and fun approaches. Maybe you, Jelle, can question some of my econometrics in the first blog post where I check if news reports on war has any effect on the sale of Call of Duty games - if it should be included that is. :)

Hi Phrack,  I'm an advocate for electoral reform in the USA.  Our current system tends too easily to effective single party rule.  We need a balance between single seat elections and multi seat PR election rules, with the latter used in "more local" elections that otherwise tend to be chronically non-competitive due to sorting by characteristics strongly correlated with voting preferences. 

I support the leadership of FairVote in pushing for 3-5 seat elections for US/state congressional elections.  I have my own thoughts published at my blog, "a new kind of third party". 

I call it The Tri-election Triage, because I argue for different types of electoral reform for different types of elections.

This is an idea for a new sort of system that doesn't end two party domination(important for staving off rent-seeking and enabling collective action), but it does end one party domination(or the tendency to a contested monopoly) and it makes it so that the duopoly is more likely to  contested, as well as there may be LTPs that do not seek to rival the two major parties.

Hi, I tend to emph the need to compromise between competing intere$t$ more efficiently.  This is why I have become an advocate for the use of American forms of PR in state/nat'l representative elections.  When 3-5 seats are contested in many super districts, it does 3 things: 1. Increases the number of competitive elections.  2. Keeps either major party from dominating our politics, while checking the growth of third parties.  3. Increases the chances of ethnic/economic/ideological minorities of becoming the swing voters so they can have more voice for "reasonable" ideas.  

Since we have a new economy, we need a new polity, with more checks and balances...  It's not that different from what was done in IL for state reps elections from 1870-1980.

John mentioned an organization called Kiva in his last vlog update. It's this site where one can lend money to developing countries via micro loan banks. I checked it out and joined the Nerdfighter group on the page. Next sallary, I'm boostin my capital in that portfolio and will start helping people while tasting the sweet nectar of profit from happiness and growth!
