My Pants was the forum for Brotherhood 2.0 and one of the first places for nerdfighters to congregate and meet each other. Older nerdfighters may remember that My Pants was always buzzing with activity -- new members, new posts, new topics to reply to. They may also remember the slow deterioration of the forum: accidental bannings, server shut-downs, slow posting...
These nerdfighters may not know that My Pants has been up and running smoothly for quite a while (although since I'm no tech nerd, I couldn't tell you for sure if it would all slow down once people get in there again). The problem is that while the forum itself is working, the new members are all spammers, the new topics are spam, and the majority of new posts? Degrading, rude, and unacceptable.
My Pants is a part of nerdfighter history that is wasting away for no good reason! The Ning forum is great for some things due to the nature of replies to specific posts, etc. It's great for debates and organizing things like Nerdfighter Day and raising awareness of issues, but My Pants is great for things, too. It is, in my opinion, a place that is better for chat discussions, for introductions (anyone remember the huge Introductions thread there, started by John?), and for book/music recommendations.
There can be a happy medium between the Ning and My Pants, and that is what this group is all about finding.
