I'm kinda a techie... but just kinda. I'm getting initiated into the world of tech, so I know basically nothing...

don't worry. you'll pick up the terms and all the "know-how" along the way. and if you want to study up some terms ill send a few websites your way.

Do you think you could send me those websites? I've been doing tech for about a year and a half but I know there's still a lot for me to learn so they'd probably be quite helpful. Thanks!

Well first i have to ask a few questions.
do you like working with your hands?
do you love to be organized?
can you push/lift more than twice your weight?
can you run without being heard/are you sneaky?

and of course...
do you like the dark?
and
do you like to wear black?

Black? Techies wear black? Oh, is that why I can't see half my clothes in my closet?

I've stage managed a few shows, hung up lights, do sound for one acts and sometimes for choir too.

I do lights for school and two different community theatre shows a year, plus set construction and a little bit of sound, but I think lights is coolest.

Techie?!? Yepper, that would be me! I'm a stage manager and a sound designer/editor... I let my friends take the stage, I rather be behind it. Not that I can't act, I can. I just like the control that the tech side offers more. I'll never forget, I played Ginny in "For whom the southern bells toll" and only a hand fill the people there had seen me act before, mostly people were shocked. Actors live for the stage, so a lot of my major mates didn't get why I would rather be backstage. Here is the reason why, I like making things work. I like the ins and outs of the whole production. When acting you miss a lot of that because you are worried about your character. Plus, I like telling people what to do.
