I love being a techie! Most of the time I do sound, but I've stage managed and acted, too. Tech is definitely my faaaaaavorite thing about theatre.

I work tech! I acted in middle school (6th and 7th grades), but like tech so much more. I like supporting, and being the person no one really knows about but everyone needs. I am floor manager, so I run backstage, watch over the props, and am the link between actors and techies. This means nobody wants my job. :) My school is absolutely tiny, so I didn't have much ladder climbing to do. I am also learning sound and some lighting, and I hope to make a career in technical theater on the side from being a musician.

A quote from a friend of mine about being part of running crew: "I am a poltergeist. I'm invisible and I move furniture."

Techies FTW.

I'm a Stage Manager and hope to do a post graduate in it so that I can start a professional career as such. Its so good to see so many techies of all sorts out there, especially you girls! spread the love! I know how you feel about being in a group surounded by men! Though its has its perks in that they are constantly teaching me stuff about lighting and sound, so interesting!!!

Being back stage is hard work but so rewarding anyone thinnking of doing it should just go for it! its fun but hard and I cant think of a better environment to work in. Theatre stress is the only stress that makes me want more!

love to the techies <3

Hey there! I'm a SM as well, and do I ever know what it's like to be one of few female techies backstage. I love theatre so much, though, that I'll deal with it. Plus, we look better in our backstage black outfits!

Hey there! I'm a stage manager, Master Electrician, and sound designer of my theatre company. I've also been known to do carpentry and costumes work. What's up?

That's great! Actually right now we have currently started building the set for our show in November. So I don't have time to get on the ning much. :) But it's worth it I suppose! I do agree with the fact that we girls usually Do look better in black. :).

I am a techie, I do lights i am "the lights queen" at our school. hopefully i'll be ASM for One Act (you may not now what that is).

we just finished our production of steel magnolias, which was incredibly boring for lights but a great show in general. We're about to start our production of boys next door, which is suppose to be much more fun for me. we have two directors and do 5 shows a year so the shows usually overlap a little...

best theatre quote from my directors, "doing theatre is like having sex with a gorilla, you don't stop until the gorilla says so"

Hey! i'm the technical director of my theatre group. the former stage manager and i have also done costumes and make up and some props. set building is what i enjoy the most though...there is nothing like building a two story set with three people in 9 days and then taking it down 4 days later...oh the accomplishment :) but someone has to do the lights and sound! i love all aspects of technical theatre...it's amazing. keep the techie spirit alive!

I am a Technician (the people in charge at my school will yell at us if we or anyone else calls us "Techies", apparently it is a high school term and we are all technicans or crafts-people). My main focus is on Costumes and Make-up. I am a costume design major at UNC-G and just finished crewing my first college show(The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe) today. I know how to do alot of the other stuff, like set building, lights and sound, I just really love costumes the most. I started in Tech classes my freshman year of high school, but didn't really get involved until my sophmore year with Fiddler on the Roof. I love tech work so much there is always something new and different to learn.
