Well, I have all sorts of ideas flying around in my head. But, whenever I look at the paper or consider writing, I immediately kind of shut down. Any tips on actually moving past this block? I've only managed 64 words in 8 days.

alot of people have put forth the theory (and i believe it probably more than ill admit) that what can stop people from writing (or painting, or any creative venture) is fear. fear that you'll fail, but also fear that you'll succeed. I mean, writing (at least for me) is just putting yourself--your thoughts, your ideas, etc-- onto a page, which is quite terrifying. My advice (and this might sound simple and infuriating) is to just WRITE! In his book The War of Art (which, by the way, is perhaps one of the most helpful books for anyone wanting to break their creative blocks) Steven Pressfield, on his daily routine, writes, "When I start making typos, I know I'm getting tired. I wrap up for the day. I power down. It's three, three-thirty. How many pages have I produced? I don't care. Are they any good? I don't even think about it. All that matters is I've put in my time and hit it with all I've got." 

One of the biggest problems that I've struggled with, is obsessing over the quality of my writing while I'm writing it. Don't do that. Just write whatever comes into your head, and keep moving forward, and when your done, stop, don't force it. the next day, you can look back, and if it really is all crap, you can get rid of it. But if you just let yourself write, you'll find the amount that you're writing will increase, and eventually, if you keep working on it, you will come up with some great stuff.

I am awesome at beginning a writing project, but not so great at finishing. I have some nice ideas for stories and im great at naming characters. so if anyone needs help just ask.
