Hi Nerdfighteria! I've been starting a ton of short stories lately, and I get about half way through and then can't think of where to go next. I've been thinking this could be a writing lab and a place to edit each other's work. I think what we write can be very personal, and we want someone like us to read it with care. So, of course, awesome Nerdfighters are the perfect people!
I actually think this is pretty wicked idea.
I'm not sure if I, myself, would be a good candidate for a post of a beta-reader, but I'd love to help out if it'd be possible. Especially, I think with short stories it would be easier for me, not have a complete novel to get through.
I think I might be able to help with beta-reading, and would like some help in return. I am generally good with wording and such, but I have a terrible time coming up with an idea. If I come up with an idea, sometimes I'll just jump in and then have no idea where to take my story next. So if anyone wants me to look at grammar and wording, or has tips on how to think up ideas, come to me please!
If you want, I could read your stories. I have a bit of an overactive imagination, so I could give many, many different ways to go.
Is this going anywhere? Cause I'd be in.
i would love to read anyones stories(seeing as how i read TFIOS and LFA in about 5 hours
Maybe that would be motivation to write something new. XP
In my English class in high school, we had a student teacher for a few months. He gave us an assignment where we had to rewrite Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" from another perspective. I wrote it from the perspective of one of the policemen. It was really fun to do and I would've received a high grade if I hadn't turned it in late. O_O Haha.
If you try things like that, I think it could help with coming up with how different characters work and how you can make them react and all that jazz.
I can post that paper if you would like. If I can find it on my computer...
I'd love to read it! We just read Tell Tale Heart last year, so it'd be interesting to see what you wrote. Sorry for the complete lack in posting anything--I've just been so busy with other stuff, but I did just submit a short story to this Norman Mailer competition (not that I'm actually going to win or anything) but it would be super cool to have other people, besides my English teacher read it. Show interest, friends!
I have a writing game that may be of interest to you. It blends RP, Sims type games, cosplay with writing. It's main page is @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/ζωή-Life-The-Game/254802068051 ; It just like writing a diary, and from there a novel or series of short stories can be written as the game is played.
I have a ton of short stories and most of them have a couple of lines and a random title... Great idea! I love reading people's stories and critiquing.
So, I'm pretty bad at doing all things technological, so if anyone has good ideas on how to send each other our stories...we can do email. I'm good at email. This has to happen!
I'm totally down with this as well, if it's still up and running. I'm always willing to help a fellow writer, whatever it is they're having trouble with.
