What started you onto the road of Otaku?

I got hooked on Inuyasha when it was on Adult Swim. I ended up buying DVDs then reading the manga. Now I have read tons of manga. Looking back I realized I have watched anime since I was little, but had no idea. G-Force (or Gatchaman), Speed Racer (we just watched that for the funny song & turned it off) & Robotech.
Robotech was like kiddie crack for me. It was a cartoon soap opera. I had to see every episode, so this must have been the start of my love of anime. (BTW what was with the cinnamon roll hair?)

I loved Pokémon when I little, really loved it, books, DVDs, recordings of episodes and films, games, you name it but I didn't even realise that it was an anime but then when I was 14 my friend, Phoebe, was going on about a manga she had been reading online (I live in Ireland and there are no tankobons available here so I read the legal scanlations) and I started reading it and BAM! I was hooked. It was Dengeki Daisy, then Bleach, then Naruto and on and on. I love Phoebe.

i grew up watching Dragon Ball Z and pokemon but didnt get heavily into manga or anime until about 2006 when i started watching Tokyo Mew Mew. since then it has been a never ending addiction
