Comment by Уeomans on April 20, 2013 at 12:28pm Anyone interested in fiddling around with a java rpg engine based on slick2d? I'll have a working version within a week or two, so let me know.
Thanks!
Comment by Bobby Yankou on March 4, 2013 at 11:34am Oh wow I forgot about this group! Emma, thank you for the suggestion; this looks like a great resource. Codecademy is definitely slow-paced, and I have been using additional online resources since I made that comment. Udacity has some great CS courses. I'm in the middle of two: Web Development and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (essentially machine learning).

Comment by Emma Brady on March 4, 2013 at 11:22am Wow, first post in 2013... well, hello people from last year! Been a while. I've just started learning, and I've tried Codeacademy, but I find it a little dull and boring, at the moment I'm following a free course online called CS50, if you type into google 'this is CS50' and go to the third link down you can watch all the course lectures and get links to all the useful sites, hope that's helpful to someone ^_^
Comment by Bobby Yankou on November 3, 2012 at 2:36pm Hey, I noticed no one has mentioned this on the wall yet.
Codecademy is an awesome way to learn the basics of a few languages. They've got JavaScript, HTML and CSS, Python, JQuery, and recently Ruby. It's like Duolingo is for languages, it holds your hand as you start, is self-corrected by a user community and is totally free. It can be buggy at times, but it's what got me to sit down and actually start learning JavaScript.

Comment by Bryan Rosander, FL on September 4, 2012 at 7:57am I use Python and am pretty much useless for helping out projects outside of consulting. I do offer advice for free.
Comment by William Maguire on August 31, 2012 at 4:25pm Hey guys, I write primarily in python, does anyone else use it and want to do a small project?
Comment by Đorđe (George) Đedović on July 23, 2012 at 3:15pm I mostly know PASCAL (its outdated, I know) and currently I am studying Java.
@sammy sparrow, For beginners, I'd recommend "Sams Teach Yourself" books. Look them up on Amazon, based on what you want to learn. For instance, "Sams Teach Yourself C# in 21 Days". If you aren't sure which languages to start with, I'd suggest Java. It's easy to get tools and tutorials for and it uses a lot of techniques you'll find helpful with all languages.
