Nerdfighters

Amy had the brilliant idea of starting a discussion about what makes us happy so that we can better understand how to help other people.

Right now I'm really happy because I just watched John Green talk about Positive Pranking and it's so cool that he talked about it a few days after this group was formed. Hopefully it will bring us some new members and inspire us all. I love random coincidences in life, when things just work out for the best...and they always do, it's just really hard for us to notice it.

I'm also happy because I'm getting a lot better at marching band, and it's a lot more fun now that I'm not so frustrated.

Plus we had our first meeting of Creative Writing Club today!

And then tomorrow's the second Friday of the school year!

What's making you guys happy right now?

girl mellophone here!

I am happy because I am alive and well and my town has received rain for the first time in a LONG time yesterday <3 ... Rain rain come and stay ♫ come again another day ♪
Rain is awesome! Where do you live? (not in a creeperish way but in a "what kind of climate?" way) We get a couple of storms a month here but lots of sunny days, too...actually the weather here's pretty nice. Normally I don't realize that until I compare it to other people's...although actually I'd like a desert or somewhere it snowed more, just because those places seem exotic compared to where I am now...

Yesterday, I was happy because the previous day I'd made some new friends on the Ning, and the giddiness from it carried out into the next day. Also, I'm generally really shy so people assume I don't ever want to talk, and whenever I have something to say they either ignore me or or are kind of like "Uhhuh" with a distracted expression on their face. So yesterday I actually had a few good conversations without stuttering or getting discouraged or anything :-). I'm really extroverted in front of my family or really really close friends and whenever I have a random bout of extroverted-ness at school, there's no one around to share it with, so that made me happy.

Also, I've learned that it's little things that can make someone happy. It doesn't necessarily have to take a lot of effort and time to make someone smile.

That's great, Nadia! I'm not shy myself but I have a lot of friends who are that way and I always find I get closer to them then I do to the so-called "outgoing" people because when they do open up, they really open up, instead of just putting on a face like you see a lot of people doing.

Yeah, it doesn't take a lot of effort to make someone smile, but whatever effort you do put in is totally worth it.
