Nerdfighters

Amy had the brilliant idea of starting a discussion about what makes us happy so that we can better understand how to help other people.

Right now I'm really happy because I just watched John Green talk about Positive Pranking and it's so cool that he talked about it a few days after this group was formed. Hopefully it will bring us some new members and inspire us all. I love random coincidences in life, when things just work out for the best...and they always do, it's just really hard for us to notice it.

I'm also happy because I'm getting a lot better at marching band, and it's a lot more fun now that I'm not so frustrated.

Plus we had our first meeting of Creative Writing Club today!

And then tomorrow's the second Friday of the school year!

What's making you guys happy right now?

Baked a cake with my two best friends yesterday for one of their younger sibling's birthday. That was really fun, and made me happy.
Sounds awesome. What specifically made you happy abotu it...just hanging out with people that you liked, with sugar, making someone else happy?

We had our first marching band show last night and even though I made a lot of stupid mistakes I'm just glad I got through it...plus I know I'll do better next time!
I'm tempted to say it was the 'doing something good for someone else' because it sounds so good, but honestly I think what I really liked was spending time with people I liked, because I didn't have to....try? I guess.

Congrats on making it through your first show!
No, that's fine. There's a reason you didn't have to try. It just might be love (and not the kind they make songs about, but love all the same).

haha, thanks. I'm slowly learning how to have a better attitude about this.
Yesterday I was happy because it was a sunny day and that put me in a good mood :)
Dude, I totally know what you mean...sometimes when we're out playing for marching band it'll be cloudy but then the sun will come out right as we're playing and it just feels so magical...

It is awesome isn't it? the best is when you do horn swings and you see the sun glinting off the instruments.

My brother missed me a bunch my first year of college, so he left me a voicemail of him playing one of my favorite piano pieces. It made my month. :)
That's so awesome! I'll trade you my brother. What was the piano piece?
I was happy when I went to play trombone for the fifth graders and I was the only girl in the section. Suddenly all of the girls went up to the band directors and requested trombone! It made me happy to influence young girls. (Many people think that brass=boys and woodwind=girls. WRONG). Girl power!!
Dude, I'm totally with you on that...I play trumpet and I'm the only girl in my section this year, too.

wow! Woot woot! girl power:)
