Instead of picking up your feel when backwards skating make little C's with your feet and keep them an the ground. As always it is very important to keep your knees belt. Make sure to look up when you skate backwards, because having eyes on the ground makes it twice as hard(if you look down you are going down/that applies even when going forward). Good luck!

Some leagues do fresh meets where you can just skate around. Maybe ask them if there are any lessons going around

I really wanted to Derby for a while and I found a league, but my skating skills are pretty low. Any advice?

Hi guys! I've wanted to play for a while, and I just signed up for the Level 1 session of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby Recreational League. I got my pads and stuff yesterday, and my skates come in in a week. So excited. And very glad to see other Derby Nerdfighters! :)

Hi! I play junior for the San Diego Derby Dolls. Also really surprised to find this group. We play LA in april(first game of the season). It will be epic!

HI Courtney! I am sorry to hear about your injury , but its one of the things that come with roller Derby. I have bee skating for 3 years off and on because of work and life getting in a way, but recently I just joined a new league in California, South Bay Derby Mizftz

Hi ladies! Imagine my surprise when I found this group! I never would have guessed. Anyway, hi from the Old Capitol City Roller Girls in Iowa City, Iowa! I've been playing for a little over 2 years now, and only spent 6 months of it out on injury, ha.

we have a junior roller derby team in kansas city as well its really awesome!
