Nerdfighters

Today in the grocery store, I sized up the lines, as usual, and picked one, wondering if the other line would go through faster (also as usual). A woman took the place in the next line as I was wondering if it would have been a better choice, and I looked at her and said, "race ya!"

I love it when people take you up on your invitations to play! She laughed and I said, "let's see who gets through the line first!" And so it began - we started involving people around us - I got to the checker first, and said "I won!" but she got out of the store first, and her checker did a victory dance!

It made waiting in line a lot more fun, that's for sure :)

When I got home, our house had been papered! Well, sort of, indirectly. The next street over had three houses that had been TP'd over the weekend, and then the wind picked up... I guess when one house gets papered, the whole neighborhood gets to share when the wind blows! :)

Yay, free toilet paper falling from the sky!

So, how about you guys? How have you played today? Share the fun!

I'm about to set out on a marathon of errands, including my favorite, turning all the spare change in the house into savings deposits for the kids. The rest of them, not my favorite at all..... So I will remember your post and change my attitude while I sit in traffic, wait in lines and check my watch....thanks for the much needed perspective shift!
I hope I find a fun stranger to play with....

You betcha! I try to play every day...sometimes quite literally with my children, and sometimes in more abstract ways. Today it was literally playing, some very complicated Star Wars game that my son was creating on a piece of paper as we went. As it stands, I am on Naboo with 3 Republic gun ships and 40 guys with varying weaponery...it's all a bit confusing, but very fun. :)

Yay! I don't have kids to play with, so I have to invent games to play with strangers :)

Of course, I also play with my husband all the time - one of the reasons we get along so well is we play well together and we are both playful.

And soon we will get a dog to play with us, too!

Today, on the way home from picking up Devin from work, there was a HUGE tumbleweed in the road! He said "don't do it" but I couldn't help it, and got that maniacal gleam in my eyes and sped up and smashed into it! What was great is there was a car coming the other way, which I hadn't paid attention to, but the driver was totally cracking up :) Yay! The bad thing is that I dragged parts of the noxious weed home in the undercarriage of the Jeep :( It also turned out to be a Bassia, which are even worse than Tumbleweeds and have awful prickly seeds - I think I got all of it and put it in the trash, but ick! It was fun, anyway.

TUMBLEWEEDS! TUMBLEWEEDS! TUMBLEWEEDS! Definitely on the list of favorite things!

Maybe I should have titled this “What are you playing now?” or something (except that sounds like music). I know all you guys are playful and fun, and I thought it would be fun to share ways in which we all play every day (since, in my philosophy, “immaturity is the secret to eternal youth!”) Instead I think it sounds a bit like “here’s what ~I~ did, what have YOU done?” which is not how I meant it! Oh, hey, I can edit it, can’t I? he he...

There! That's better :)

Ok. This was yesterday, but I'm playing catch up. In the building where I work there are 5 levels of underground parking so to get to the office you have to first get in the elevator in the parking garage, then get out into the lobby (opposite the security/reception desk) and then take the elevators up to you floor. There are little cameras all over the place, right? Well, as I was waiting for the garage elevator to take me up, I did a little underwear adjusting -- then remembered the camera and it made me laugh. Sooooo, as the elevator doors opened into the lobby I stepped out flapping my gums at the guy at the desk, "Oh my Gawd. I forgot about the cameras! Did you just see me pulling my underpants outta my butt?!!!" When he got over his shock, he got the giggles and told me he's seen MUCH worse than that on those cameras! My long term project? To get him to tell me about those.

That's great! I find the best way to disarm someone out of seriousness is to make a joke at your own expense :) Keep us posted on what you find out!

Yes! We got a dog in June - she's a rescue so we don't know what she is - about 50 pounds, black with silver and brown sort of mixed in, beard and mustache, long floppy ears, tail curved back over her back and feathered... she seems like some sort of terrier mix. Two women in Home Depot in Carson City told us she was for sure a Tibetan Terrier because they had one and she looked just like him, but when I look at pics online, they seem much smaller and different... But their description fit - she rarely barks, and when she does, it's usually only once - they were bred to live with Tibetan Monks and be quiet, but give a warning bark if needed. She's a good dog! She loves to play - I keep buying her toys, because she's so cute with them, and it makes her so happy to have toys. She is a great hiking dog, and she loves to play with sticks and play in the water! She figured out that she could swim a couple weeks ago on a hike, and now she loves it! She is a constant source of fun and entertainment. And we are spoiling her rotten! Sometimes she sleeps with us - she's like a live stuffed animal - very cuddly and warm. :)

I have some photos of her on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=24115&id=1408216849&l... and also on some other albums.

Yay doggies!!!

Great pictures! She looks like a bundle of joy. Isn't the unconditional love just wonderful?!

Yes, it definitely is :) Yesterday, she came out to where I was sitting in an Adirondack chair in the back yard and not only came up on my lap with her front feet, but just kept coming and curled up in my lap like a little dog! It was so cute - I got all these warm fuzzy maternal feelings :)
