OK, so I was in Washington for a few days and it's ALIVE there..spring at its finest. I walked down to the market area for coffee/study time and enjoyed the flowers so much that after I got back, I went out again with my camera.

These are not good pictures, but they're of pretty flowers so I thought I'd post them for those still playing in the snow.

Spring in Capitol Hill is so much nicer than spring in Bawlmer. (The flowers outnumber the garbage! I so could not work for the Bawlmer Tourism people! ;) )

Color coordinating their landscaping?

To properly shoot this, I would have had to lie down on the ground in a white shirt with the owners staring at me. Oh well.

It's beginning to look a lot like ... spring?!

Even the ivy (or whatever it's called) is coming back to life!

Anyway, this is less barely scratching the surface of two sides of one city block! I know there are some pretty spring photos elsewhere but it anyone wants to post spring photos here, I'd love it!

Here's a sign of spring: sprouting seeds in my basement. Every year I say I am going to start seeds in February, and every year it is actually April. Better late than never.

Anyway, I planted these on saturday, and the okra is already sprouting. I didn't think that was possible, but there we are. Slightly fuzzy okra seedlings.

I'm so excited. might even try spinach, though it's awful sunny over there.

thanks for the hopeful pics of spring! we have a couple inches of new snow (what a nice easter gift)... hoping this sun and blue sky will stick around and banish winter back into her dark time. i look forward to flowers and tree buds!

This morning's hopeful sign of spring: me bicycling to work for the first time of the season. It is warm enough, and the sun was far enough off the horizon. I hope "slow and wobbly wins the race" because that is exactly what I am. 6 miles in 45 minutes. Yes, there are people who run that distance faster. I just don't happen to be one of them :-)

VT, I wish I could do something like that for school. It's like 11 miles ... down the interstate though.

Yet another reason you're made of awesome!

I don't think 11 miles along an interstate would be a life-affirming choice that would provide you with healthy excersize. More like fear and choaking.

Right now, I am wondering what magic fairy will wisk me and my bicycle home :-) Not seeing any fairies on the horizon, I am afraid I am going to have to pedal. And right now I am not sure how effective that is going to be. I'm less of a "feel the burn!" person, more of an "ow! that hurts! Make it stop!" person.
