The problem with me is that I don't know how to react in social situations. I like my shyness though because its a feeling of comfort to me. If I'm social it will lead to me embarrassing myself so I tend to not be social...

Once I get to know people, I can be talkative, but I never talk to people I don't know, which makes the getting to know people thing fairly difficult. I'm starting at a new school this year where I literally know no one, and I'm worried I won't make friends because I just won't talk to anyone. Any advice?

I'm one of those shy people who don't want to seem shy and compensate for it by trying to seem normal, but I'm so awkward that I always end up overcompensating and being really loud and saying really strange things that makes people want to stay away from me. I really don't know which is worse, when I just stay quiet and withdrawn, or when I try so hard to interact with people and end up embarrassing myself.

I only get upset when its someone who I've actually talked to before. More than once teachers have said I saw in class when I wasn't.

Lindsey- I get angry when people say "Oh wow do you ever talk?" because yes- I do- I just don't like a lot of people

Sasha- I've been asked the same thing. The only class I talked in was robotics and it was during the end of the year. My teacher applauded me and all I felt was either fainting or just never speak again. I didn't faint but I liked him less after that.

Brianna, I'm the same way. I always worry about what people are gonna think of what I say or type, especially since people can take things the wrong way in text. Does it annoy you guys when people ask "You're really shy, aren't you?" or "Do you actually speak?" like Sasha said?

I'm shy, and easyly blush (which is something everyone likes to play with). More than once I've been asked if I actually speak. (I moved to a new school halfway through the year and a new state). I am only out going if I'm with my best friend. This is the most social thing I've done all day...

im always cripplingly shy , save when im with close friends (shyness has made this group an astonishing seven people) and its sort of horrible. i rarely meet new people, and i cant even talk to cashiers without considerable mental preperation. like, it even took me a half hour to type this up because im too scared of how people will perceive it.

The worst is when you're at a convention where everyone is celebrating their passion for the same hobby (in this case, barbershop music) and even though you are well aware that 90% of the people are incredibly kind and welcoming, you can't bring yourself to approach any of them unless you have a very specific reason (such as asking your favorite quartet for a picture) but even then watching and waiting until you are 200% certain it will not be an inconvenient time for them (even though you have been waiting four years to do so).
