Oddly enough, they have very poor incentives to make a good movie in the tradition of the original trilogy.

The reasonable successes that Star Wars has had since the original trilogy have all been in the novels, games, and the animated series. If they wanted a success, they could create a low budget production (similar to the animated series) with correspondingly low expectations.

Trying to hit the highs of the original trilogy would be almost impossible now even with a perfect team because they can't match the expectations lined up for them.

I'm really not sure how I feel about Disney making more Star War... At first I was freaking out, exclaiming that they should NOT under any circumstances make more movies. Though now that a few days have pasted I'm not quite freaking out as much, because hey, I should give them a chance at least. Who knows, maybe these new movies will be brilliant... we can only hope.

I know what you mean. Non-nerd girls/ decepticons expect girls to only watch chick flicks not si-fi, never play video games, etc. A fair while ago I compared a noise to r2-d2 and everyone who didn't know my nerdiness was so surprised.

LET IT BE KNOWN, i dont have a problem with disney buying star wars as long as it give teh fans more movies. but please disney, dont do animated shit with it !

Today in class some boy said something about Han Solo and the two cheerleaders sitting next to him didn't know that was. He had to explain to them that Han is from Star Wars. He then told the cheerleaders that was surprised that they had never seen the movies before. They told him, "We're girls, we don't watch Star War!" At that time I had to turn around and say, "I'm a girl and watch Star Wars!" They then gave me a dirty look and said, "Well... your Katy." *Sigh* You just gotta ignore the haters sometimes.
