I know this doesn't have much to do with the Avengers, but oh well. Personally, I think Aquaman is sorta incredibly lame. What do you think?

A lot of people seem to think Aquaman is lame.

I on the other hand have an Aquaman collection dating back to 1997 and I could probably write essays on why I think he's awesome.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the scarlett witch. I don't really have anything wrong with her character. I just don't like characters with so much power they can reduce the mutant race by 90% by saying three words. It just doesn't appeal to me. Other than that I don't really know much about her so for all I know she could be awesome and interesting.

I agree with you on the scarlett witch, but with Aquaman, his powers wouldn't be incredibly useful in a scenario such as the one that was presented in the Avengers. I'm sure they would be incredibly useful and awesome in a Hawaiian or Venetian setting, or something like that, but I don't think they're as practical as, say Spiderman's powers.

His telepathy with marine life wouldn't be. But he actually has more powers than that, he's an atlantean and as such has a different physiology, one which is capable of withstanding the pressure at the bottom of the ocean. He's super strong, tough, mostly bulletproof and can leap tall buildings with a single bound.

I didn't know about the bulletproof/leaping stuff, maybe that does make him a bit cooler, but at the same time, I still think his powers aren't quite as practical as Superman, Spiderman or even Iron Man.

Yeah the command of marine life is a bit limited, but it does still mean he's a pretty powerful telepath even if it's only useful on 2/3s of the planet. But in the DC universe there are all manner of giant sea monsters so when he does have a chance to cut loose things can get crazy.

Ya, I have no doubt that he's definitely a very powerful ally if you were fighting near water, but most of the battles seem to have very little to do with the water, and even less to do with marine life. Though I suppose that, in the comic book world, his powers would be more useful. Again, though, not nearly as useful as Superman, etc.

Well, a lot of Aquaman series revolve around him and his family as rulers in Atlantis. So it's set in his environment. When he has to do stuff with the league he's out of his environment. But he can still be cool http://www.rowsdowr.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/tumblr_lzp28m3fS...

I agree, those pictures were pretty cool, so I guess Aquaman could be awesome in certain circumstances. I stick to my original ideas though, that Aquaman isn't as useful or practical as other superheroes.

All superheroes: Batman. I know people LOVE him, but I can't stand the guy! Batman has ALWAYS struck me as a wannabe Ironman. Just a rich guy out to save the world, expect a WAY worse version. Batman uses the cheesy "my parents got killed so now i'm gonna fight crime" formula, and his only power is that he's rich. there's nothing else special about him! He doesn't even make his own gadgets! Tony on the other hand has a really unique back story (that actually manages to make you understand where he's coming from with the superhero business) and is a genius, making him actually worth more than just a bored rich guy.

from the Avengers: umm... hero wise Hulk, personality wise Cap. I dunno why, i've just never been a big fan of the Hulk. It was the only pre-avengers movie I didn't demand to see in theatres. And as for Steve... he's just so naive. Sure he's from a different time, but Thor is from a different planet and not even he's that bad.

Batman is awesome because he's basically a ninja, but at the same time, he doesn't have any legitimate powers. I sorta have mixed feelings about him because he is pretty awesome, but he isn't legitimately a superhero, and I agree that the "my parents are dead so now i'm gonna fight crime" formula is quite cliché.

Iron Man, on the other hand, is epic because of the reasons you said as well as the fact that he's underestimated. For instance, in the Avengers, Captain America was making fun of him for the reason that he doesn't have anything going for him besides the suit. Of course, Tony Stark is a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist so that isn't true, but still.

I think the Hulk is cool because he turns into a large green rage machine, but also he can't control it very well, which makes him a threat. Cap is whiny and annoying, but at least he has a superpower and he can work with the team well.

I agree entirely. Cap does have his military background though, which makes him good at tactics of which team member should go where in a fight, but I'm sure Natasha or Barton could also do that just as easily.

The thing about Cap though, is that his love interest is dead, so he doesn't have many distractions and can focus fairly clearly on tactics and strategies that would benefit everyone. Whereas Natasha or Barton have a clear relationship that could (and probably has) evolved into something more than partners or friends. They could become distracted. Though the same could be said for the Cap because he could easily develop a love interest.
