How this works
I am creating this group in hopes to combine two things every nerdfighter loves; reading and charity. How? It's pretty simple.
Pick a charity of any kind. It can be anything from your local homeless shelter to the World Wildlife Fund. As long as they help to decrease world suck, it's a good selection. This way each member's collected money can go to something they care about.
For each book you read, money should be collected. You can collect from yourself or someone you know. If I were to only be collecting money from myself I might say that for every book I read, I'll donate $1. Then at the end of the year, if I've read, say, 79 books I'd donate $79 (minimum) to a charity of my choice. You may want to ask family or friends if they'd like to support your charity too.
As for reading, almost anything counts. As long as it's a novel or anything with more than 100 pages, I think it's worthy of a donation. But, if you feel the need to count a picture book with 10 pages, that's fine too. Just more money for charity!
At the end of the year, I'll have you guys post your totals and your charities and we'll see the grand total that was made.
There is also a discussion where you can post your milestones.
Good luck and happy reading :)
