Leeds is fairly well connected to most places via rail (I have yet to go on a trip that hasn't passed through Leeds at some point)

I'd say Manchester, there are direct trains there from most places, it's a big city with loads of interesting stuff to see and places to go.

Manchester or Liverpool are both well connected by train, and are both really cool cities with plenty to do.

I live in Liverpool, and I'm going to try and make a group for a gathering in August, and completely troll the Ning to get people to respond. But first, I need ideas for WHERE in Liverpool. I've never been to a gathering, so if I'm going to organise one I need all the help I can get :')
