Has anyone read 'eating animals' by Jonathan saffran foer? It's shocking, stunning, amazing, heartbreaking, revolting, and a lot of adjectives that mean YOU MUST READ THIS. I've never been a preaching vegetarian, but I think I'm going to have to start giving this to family and friends. I'm also going to have to have to thouroughly research the origin of my 'organic' milk and eggs and possibly stop consuming those... Anyways, I heartily recommend it - also as a gift to non-vegetarian members of your household who are preventing you from going fully veggie.

I haven't eaten red meat and pork in four-five years now. But being that I live under my parent's roof still and I don't feel like starving, I eat some meat. Usually chicken and turkey. But even that is minimal.

My goal is to go vegan someday.

I've been a vegetarian for a month, and a partial-vegitarian for two and a half years.
I'm at a writing workshop right now, so it's really easy to not eat meat, but when I go home, I'll probably have to be a flexitarian.

speaking of cookies i was on amazon the other day and there was a new isa cookbook called something like vegan cookies take over your cookie jar which look like its going to be like vegan cupcakes take over the world but for cookies and im super excited except i haven't really heard anything about it nd it probab;y wont come out for awhile... amazon is such a tease

Me too. The best I can do with a stove is stir fry, and even then I think I'm being impressive. = )

Right on, Rachie!

I thought people might like to know: if you go on foodtv.com, they are having a "it's too hot to cook" month, with daily recipes and such. Since it is not good to eat uncooked meat, many of the recipes seem vegetarian. Might be a cool thing to check out.

I have been a vegetarin for 5 years. And I'm only 11.
Also, I am the only vegetarin in my whole family!

At my high school we keep our backpacks with us all the time, so I just carry everything with me. That cuts out "leaving it in the locker and at school." Have you tried a lunch box that's either brightly or obnoxiously colored?

I also would make my lunch the night before and keep it in the fridge. That way I'd never run out of time in the morning.

I find that people get jealous of food brought from home. Something about it not swimming in grease and made of actual food-based materials...?

I've been vegetarian since 2!!! I'm approaching my 14th year. I don't even remember the taste of meat. And now the only thing that makes me want to throw up is meat. And apparently my body no longer makes the enzymes to digest meat. XD
