TFIOS finally put my reason for being a vegetarian into words "I try to lessen the amount of deaths I'm responsible for." I never knew how to say that. Whenever someone asks me why that's exactly what I say.

Alaska: I totally understand the queasy. I was really surprised by how my mom handled it (quite well). In the beginning I offered to make dinner every evening so it didn't worry her about what I could and couldn't eat. My older sister however...She honestly doesn't know how to cook without butter much less meat or cheese. There are a lot of raw carrots when I visit her. ; )

I've been a vegetarian since May 2011 when I finally stood up to my parents and told them my eating choices are my decisions. *Pride*

Kim: I never really liked meat to begin with. I'd eat it because my mom made me, but I neve liked any of it. I started not being able to eat meat with bones in it without feeling queasy and eventually just told myself that eating meat wasn't worth it. It took a lot of attempts, but I eventually made it to vegetarianism. I've never craved meat since before I became a vegetarian and probably never will.

Katherine: Yes, everyone gets scared to bring out their meat-filled sandwiches around me. Every day I have to explain to them that what's my choice is mine and I shouldn't let it affect others choices.

Rachel: I've been called hippie. But then again, I've been called that since before I became a vegetarian.

So, how much does anyone actually miss meat? I live in a place where BBQ is a food group so I was very surprised by my lack of cravings/withdrawal. The only thing I miss is my mom's meatballs because they were a major comfort food when I was growing up.

I was born and raised a Vegetarian. On year 13 and feeling a sense of pride about it. :-)

Just saw "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix, my daughters are already Vegetarians. Looks like I'm a Vegan NOW!
