How far are you traveling?

Just wanted to know how far of a trek some of you are making. Where are the nerdfighters traveling from?

I'm traveling from Alabama.

You'll be in Huntsville? Um, there's the waterpark, BridgeStreet (shopping center, but it's pretty nice.) Erm, I'm sure there are other things to do, but when you live in an area it always seems like there's nothing around for miles.

I was born in Huntsville and I don't know much about the History here. I know we have an art musuem, but that's about it. If you were into the art scene I'd reccomend the flying monkey. I know we will have concerts in the park by the Big Spring Park on Monday evenings, I think they start at 6:30pm...I think.. (I can't remember) but it's always fun, they have local artists come out and perform, and it's free! What hotel are you staying at? That might make it easier to figure out what's around you.

Oh, I know where that is. University is a pretty busy road.

It's on Governor's by a big water tower that says Old Lowe Mill.

I know they have music and comedy acts and such often. Plus they have a lot of art sales. I think they do those on Saturdays.

I hang out there some times and it's pretty awesome. :)

Oh, and for food I'd definitely recommend Bandito Burrito (also on Governor's)!

Also, Nerdfighteria is pretty awesome. It never ceases to amaze me, as well.

I'm traveling from Indiana, but I have to stop in Arizona to pick up a friend of mine and I might stop in Colorado for a night since I know a few people out there. The rough estimate is about 2,200 miles and 37 hours. And more on the way back, since I plan to explore quite a bit, having never been west of about Chicago.

It'll be fun. I figure I'm going to camp most nights rather than pay for a hotel or catnap in my car (which I've done before). Although it's a good thing that I'm used to long rides by myself, or else I have a feeling it would get really boring really fast. Are you driving? You just said 'traveling' from Alabama.

No, I'm flying. I'm a wimp when it comes to long car rides. I use to drive 20+ hours every summer visiting family and I would die on such a long trip.

I went to college ten hours away, so 8 times a year (4 round trips) for the last 4 years I made that drive. And for over a year while I was there I dated a girl 6 hours away, and I'd drive down to see her every 2 or 3 weeks. So I've gotten to the point now where I can make a 4-5 hour car drive without blinking and day-long car trips only require like 2 stops.

Haha, wow. That's definitely a lot of driving. Well, I'm sure that since you're so use to long drives the travel to California won't be nearly as miserable for you as it'd be for me. I suppose VidCon would be worth it, though.

I sure hope so. Plus, it means I get to sight-see and wander on my way home. I have over a week off after VidCon ends and my car gets 47 mpg, so I fully plan on driving all over the place, which I couldn't do if I flew.
