Permalink Reply by Sana Haque on October 17, 2012 at 8:23pm Hey Priyanka,
I'm also trying out NaNoWriMo (though it is impossible to write the perfect draft in a month) . A way to start writing is just writing - sit down and start writing whatever is on your mind and the story will flow between the random thoughts ( thats how it works for me). I do it for first drafts ! Also i'm doing workshops , where people edit my work, thats one way to see what works and what doesn't.
Permalink Reply by Amy H. on October 17, 2012 at 9:49pm The goal isn't "the perfect draft" its "a draft". Nano explicitly states the goal is to have something written in a month without worrying or being delayed by editing and nitpicking. :) first draftsare often hardest for this reason. I like Nano cus of this.
Permalink Reply by Capn Bubbles Nerdfighting Pirate on October 17, 2012 at 11:57pm I'm trying it again this year. I try not to take it seriously, and last year I abandoned everything else I was working on and concentrated on writing a story as silly as I could make it. For this year I'm writing about 'Drama High', so I'm going to have random relationships, pregnancies, kidnappings etc. and basically make the whole thing as dramatic and stupid as possible.
Permalink Reply by Karl Franz Pfeifer on November 11, 2012 at 6:30am Ironic drama. The best kind. Good luck!
Permalink Reply by Andrew Foltz on October 18, 2012 at 12:14am I would love to do it, but with my other story I'm working on, I would never be able to keep up. I can probably offer my services as a proofreader/editor to someone though! But only if you want it, since yeah, the goal is just to get something. But, I know myself and I always go crazy about if something is 'good enough', so maybe this would help someone get that worry out of their head and focus on the writing.

Permalink Reply by Sara on October 18, 2012 at 6:43pm I'm doing it. NaNoWriMo name is ReallyLostMyMind and since this is my first year actually doing it, help would be appreciated. Due to the fact that none of my professors will let me drop all of my studies to do this, I don't have high hopes for completion, but hey, first draft.

Permalink Reply by Jen Appell on October 20, 2012 at 2:06am I'm trying it again this year! I've "tried" for the past two years, but what really happened was I thought it was a cool idea, said I was doing it, and gave up two days into it. A lot has changed in my life this year, and I think it's definitely going to help my writing. I used to be really uptight and worry about the little things--a major reason why writing drafts was so difficult for me. I think this year, I'll be able to write freely and hopefully win nanowrimo '12! My nanwrimo name is black_bird. I have an idea for my story, but I'm going to try to sketch it out a bit more before November.
Permalink Reply by N4m4w45 on October 21, 2012 at 3:35pm I'm doing it this year! Its gonna be pretty fun, I'm assuming. (This is my first year.)
I don't think the writing part will be too hard. But, like, a fool, I'm gonna try to make the best draft I possibly can.
I do realize in the end that it won't matter, but I take my writing very seriously.
Hopefully, afterwards, I'll go over it and see if I can get it published!
Permalink Reply by Joyce H on October 23, 2012 at 10:15am I'm joining in to the madness this year after trying two years prior. I have to admit I fell in to the trap of must writ the prefect story out of the gate. I always remember to tell people that you have a lot of time for rewrites so just write the draft and go for the word count. Add me for a WritMo friend if you wish.
Permalink Reply by Chelsea Psych on October 26, 2012 at 6:48pm I'm going to attempt NaNoWriMo this year (my first time) I don't think I'll get much done since November looks as if it's going to be busy for me. But I'm too excited not to try! XD Good luck to everyone!
