Introvert nerdfighters!

A group for introverts! It seems kind of stupid, but introverts aren't exactly loners, we just prefer certain people in small groups.

one is glad to be of service...though given the way the rest of the conversation is going, i'll agree that there's a line between serving and being taken advantage of/walked all over.

@Alaska   Interaction bubble shut off switch?! That's the coolest idea I've ever heard! You could just like reach over and flick a switch, and suddenly people can't cross your bubble line. I have also started putting a little sign on the table when I'm writing in libraries and coffee shops that says "Working - Please don't disturb unless my head is on fire." It doesn't help much because then people stop to read it and then laugh loudly which distracts me, but it's also entertaining when I'm secretly people watching so it works I guess.

@Nicki Writing backwards!?! That is one of my hand goals (along with being ambidextrous). Wow.

If I could just be invisible when in public...that'd be great. I mean, I don't like the thought of not being able to interact withe people if I chose to...but I'd much like to be able to shut off my interaction bubble when writing or whatnot--chose when people can come up to me. If that doesn't sound weird...

I think that that is an awesome skill. I have the same problem. I hate it whenever people ask me what I'm drawing or something. I like going to public places also and the next thing to pop up is if I would draw for them.

(Also jumping in randomly) I have always felt self conscious about people watching me writing, and whenever I can feel people looking at me I always stop and can't get any work done - which is a problem since the ambient noise of being out in public helps me focus. At one point I actually got so bothered by the thought that people might read my writing over my shoulder that I learned to write backwards so they wouldn't be able to read it. It looks like a complicated code system, but I just draw all of the letters in reverse.

Definitely the strangest skill I've ever mastered.

Yay for awkward introverted people!

(Just jumping into this conversation) I do the same thing with my writing. My sister's boyfriend came to pick her up a few days ago. I was sitting in the living room writing (my bedroom gets too hot in the summer) and he peeked over his shoulder at what I was writing. I knocked my notebook off the table, dropped my pen, and shouted, "HOW'S THE WEATHER?!" before I realized what had happened. It was completely embarrassing. I'm just glad that we're cool with each other, so we were able to laugh it off. Awkward.

I know what y'all mean. I finally have my own art room, but the issue is that the doors are glass. I only ever write or do paintings when I'm home alone because I absolutely hate it when anyone watches me or looks at my stuff.

@Alaska

Exactly! Haha but I'm so bad at hiding my frustration sometimes. It's awful when you're in the middle of a flash of inspiration and you end up forgetting your train of thought. D:

My mom just kinda gave up on me. We're so different so she's probably just given up on figuring my weird habits out. :P

@Sunny I know what you mean. Sometimes I get so frustrated because I was into a particularly awesome part in my writing, and someone just had to ruin it. Or after they've interrupted and left, I'll be suddenly so in tune to the noise and whatnot of my surroundings and I'll have to just close the notebook and try to not look as sour.

By now my mom just knows that I'll spend long times in the bathroom and come out with no problem. But I'm a weird girl, so why wouldn't I have weird body problems? xD
