It boggles my mind that this group only has four people. Four people. The Minnesota group has well over 100 people. I just don't see how it can be possible that there are so few Nerdfighters in South…Continue

I agree, its so exciting ahhh. I decided that i'm going to do a new novel for NaNoWriMo so i won't have to stress out about the quality every 5 minutes. I can't wait!
Comment by Brianna Schreurs on September 24, 2012 at 6:21pm Great novelist John Green once said something along the lines of, "The best thing about NaNoWriMo is that it gives us permission to suck and teaches us discipline, and as writers we all need that."
I too feel that I am lacking in credibility as a aspiring author. I think that NaNoWriMo will not only be a good experience to show myself the dedication it takes to reach a dream, but also a good excuse to never leave my dorm :).
Comment by Laina Darger on September 24, 2012 at 9:00am That does sound sad, Brianna. Hopefully this year we can do it! In a way, I feel like I need to succeed in order to justify my writing abilities to myself. Even though writing x amount of words doesn't mean the quality of the writing will be good... I dunno.
Oh wow. That's a really interesting way of looking at it. I've never thought of that before.
I got bored and did the math. Approximately 7 out of every 200,000 people will attempt NaNoWriMo this year. On any given year only 14-19 percent of participants will be successful.
So one way you could look at it is: By succeeding you are indirectly causing others to fail, and vice versa, if you fail you're indirectly upping the chances of someone else s success.

Comment by Laina Darger on September 21, 2012 at 3:45pm I'm excited for NaNoWriMo, but I feel like what's going to happen is I'll participate the first few days and then one day I'll be super busy and won't be able to write and then I'll forget about it for two weeks until it's almost the end of November and I've only got three pages or so written and I'll feel like a failure haha. That's usually what happens to me.
Also, I haven't played Portal but I've watched Toby Turner's Portal 2 gameplay on YouTube and it seems really fun. I'm going to have to check out your link later on :)
Not sure if any of you have played portal, but this is hilarious!
Thanks for the reminder, even 40 days away its gonna take intense planning for! I won't be competing in the official competition, because i have already started writing my first novel this semester. 50,000 words in 30 days is INSANE! I am currently putting together a motivational playlist the youtubez.
