Nerdfighter Projects

How should this page look/be organized? How to classify these projects? What information should each summary contain? Should each project get a separate page too? Feel free to leave comments at the bottom of the page. If your project is not yet on the list, I'll send out a call later on. I'm focusing on the structure of the page right now.

Since John and Hank pioneered the whole idea of collaborative YouTube channels, lots of siblings, friends and even strangers have started up channels inspired by the Brothers Green. Here's a sampling.

• The Uncultured Project
• -Imagine leaving behind your friends, family, possessions, and a full scholarship to a good university - all to go halfway around the world to a third world country just to help the poor. This is exactly what Shawn did. And he's using YouTube to tell his story.

• FiveAwesomeGirls
• -A channel of five awesome girls who met online and started a channel to get to know eachother. They say that their channel is basically "Brotherhood 2.0 with the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and threw in a little Harry Potter and good genes, then you'd have the Five Awesome Girls." The channel is still updated quite frequently.
• FiveAwesomeGuys
• - A channel of five guys who made vlogs back and forth to eachother throughout 2008. The project has since ended.
• The Short Sisters
• -"Monica and Chellie are sisters who created a daily vlog to stay in touch while they are in college and grad school." They still make videos regularly although they are no longer daily.
• VlogRamen
• -Two friends and a "flavor packet" who have "delicious discussion" about varying topics. The channel is occasionally still being updated.
• Nerdfightastic
• - Seven Nerdfighters who met online either through the Ning itself or through John and Hank's blogtv shows during the Tour De Nerdfighting. They either post vlogs of blogs on their assigned day. The project is being updated daily.
• 5 AwesomeGays
• - Five guys who describe themselves as "We are men. We are activists. We are opinionated. We are special. We are individuals. We are motivated. We are you. We are us. We are different. We are awesome. We are gay. But that's not all we are." Their project is still updated daily.
• VlogTag
• -A channel of youtubers that was inspired by the vlogbrothers. "The objective behind VlogTag is to carry on a friendship via YouTube for others to watch, be entertained by, and possibly spam." This project is still running with a new group of Vlogtaggers.
• NerdfighterInternational
• -NerdFighters International is an extension of the Brotherhood 2.0 project. This project is about bringing complete strangers together in way never thought possible. It is about making friendships and bonds that would otherwise not have existed before this exciting new way of communication. The project is still running with a new set of people.
• SisterSalad
• -"Herein three sisters communicate via weekly video blogs, thanks to the inspiration of vlogbrothers John and Hank Green." This channel is still ocassionally updated.
• ShinyHappyVloggyPPL
• - This channel is a group of seven people who do weekly themed vlogs. It is still active.
• VlogSmoothie
• -"A 2009 nerdfighter collab channel inspired by vlogbrothers and fiveawesomegirls. The purpose of our channel is not only to get to know each other better, but also to meet as many awesome people as we can."
• 5 Awesome People
• -A channel of seven people. They describe themselves as "We're nerds, each geeks about something different. Our goal is to do some awesome acts and projects to make the world a more...well, awesome place. Plus get to know each other and spread the word of Nerdfighters the world over." The status of this project is unknown.
• House of Kick
• -"HoK is a vlogbrothers spin-off channel formerly featuring five kick-awesome secret siblings. For now, videos will be posted randomely by HoKers, with tri-weekly posts from Bailey (who rarely posted when the channel was actually up and running. Oops!)."
• Songs from a Hat
• -"Every Sunday young singer-songwriter Abby Simons writes a song based off a song title she picks from a hat. It could be your title next!" The status of this project is unknown.
• BestWishesFromNL
• -They're seven nerdfighters who met at the Dutch Nerdfighter gathering in December 2008. They decided to start a collab channel, which is inspired by the vlogbrothers and the five awesome girls. This project is still active.
• Musecast
• -"For the second year, five aspiring entertainers will document one year in their struggle to make careers in the fickle and elusive entertainment industry. In addition to being a documentary of sorts, we'll also be sharing what we've learned about the industry so that young aspiring filmmakers, musicians, writers and actors might benefit." This project is still active.
• Priscilla and Pathos
• -"Claire and Evan are making videos for eachother...and YOU! Always wanted an in-depth understanding of the Odyssey, but weren't ready to make the commitment of reading it yourself? Have to read the Odyssey for school but you just don't find it entertaining enough? Already love the Odyssey, and you just can't get enough? You have come to the right place! Finally back from their laziness and busy-ness inflicted hiatus, Priscilla and Pathos take you on a brand new Odyssey, one which traverses the Ionian Sea, the Peloponnese, Aisa Minor, and the deep recesses of Claire and Evan's minds!"
• Crypt Project
• -Three people who make videos for eachother and the world. The status of this project is unknown.
• 5 Awesome Dakines
• -A group of friends who make videos. Something fun about their channel is the meaning of the word "Da Kine". It is a Hawaiian slang term locals use in place of the actual name of a person, place, or thing when they can't think of the name right away. The status of this project is unknown.
• 7AwesomeBookWorms
• -"Some crazy nerds with crazy vlogs, comin' atcha seven days a week." This project is still active.
• Several Strangers Stranded
• -"None of us know each other out of Nerdfighters and here. This is our project to get to know each other." The status of this project is unknown.
• SincerelySunshine
• -"Two crazy sisters who decided to combine their crazy and spring their antics (together) on the world!" The status of this project is unknown.
• FiveAwesomeBloggers
• Five friends who write blogs instead of doing vlogs!
• 1Day2BeAwesome
• -"Where Elliot and Brittany challenge themselves to do something awesome everyday to decrease world suck. We only have one day to be awesome." The project hasn't been updated in a while and it's status is unknown.
• Week of Eight
• -"Weekofeight is kind of a social project where 8 people from different places and of different ages talk through vlogs rotating every day. In other words, it is truly made of awesome!" This project is still active.
• Aiming For Awesome
• -"All of us are Twilighters, most of us are Nerdfighters and love Harry Potter, we're all in High School and one of us goes to art school. And... we aim for awesome."
• The NERD Project
• -"theNERDproject was originally a project where videos would be made 7 days a week for a year. This year ran from 09/14/08 to 09/13/09. We started off as strangers, and became good friends. As of 09/13/09, a new year has started, with everyone posting at least once a month. We sadly recognize the departure however, of our original Thursday, Jess from the channel. He will be from now on replaced by Jason."
• That One Vlog
• -"This is the vlog of two random kidlets who one day, after a spur of inspiration surging from the vlogbrothers and the fiveawesomes, created their own vlog. With no-way-in-hell textless communication and mildly entertaining videos to brag about, we give you: thatonevlog." This channel hasn't been updated in a year and appears to be on hiatus.
• Shades of Awesome
• -"We're 7 nerdfighters who met on the ning. We're sharing a video blog and decreasing worldsuck everyday." This project is still active.
• 5iveAwesomeNFs
• -"Hello Youtube! This is a collab channel where five Nerdfighters dicuss the issues. And a book or two." This channel has not been updated in a while and it's status is unknown.
• LeftofAwesome
• -"We are a vlog project consisting currently of six Nerdfighters. We hail from what is generally considered a leftist perspective." This channel is still active.
• TwoSinglePeople
• -"Two Single People. Even if we're not single, we're still not together." This channel hasn't been updated in a while and it's status is unknown.
• Vloglovers
• -"Liam and Min, a couple 10,480 miles apart, are here to show you how internet relationships REALLY work, in the style we know best- vlogging!" This channel is still active.
• AGreatPerhaps
• -"Chris and Allie, or Allie and Chris, either way one of us will get smacked. We are people, who watch youtube A LOT. We like Hank and John and probably watched them before you. We like Julia Nunes." This channel is still active.
• ItTakesII
• -A brother and sister duo who used the channel to connect while they are apart and make random videos about awesome things. This channel is still active.
• ScandanaviansInYourPants
• -"There happens to be some scandinavians in your pants!" This channel is still active.
• Daily Dose of Awesome
• -A channel of nerdfighters who make vlogs. The status of this channel is unknown.
• SevenAwsomeNerds
• -"There are seven of us. We are made of awsome (that's right, we are SO made of "awesome" that the word implodes and hence awsome). We started an innovative new SEVEN DAY project January 1st, 2009." This project is still active.
• Nerdfighter Novel Project
• -A novel made by nerdfighters? Yup.
• Nerds of a Feather
• -"We are 5 awesome European Nerdfighters with a random name." This project is still active.
• Eric's Every New Day
• -An awesome nerdfighter named Eric who makes witty and amusing videos. This channel is still active.
• NerdTweeters
• -A twitter project during which a nerd tweets during their assigned day.
• DFTBA The Chat
• -"Nerdfighters from the DFTBA chatroom decided to make an actual VLOGGING channel." This channel is still active.
• brotherhoodofnavada

-"We are three friends that just happen to now go to to different schools. So, after seeing many of sistersalad's videos we were inspired to start up our own video blog." The status of this project appears still active, but it unknown.

• Nerdfightercollab

-This is a Nerdfighter collab channel between seven friends. This project is active.

• TalesFromABroad
• -"We are Annie and Vicki, two vlogging nerdfighters who became friends at college. Annie is a broad traveling abroad this semester, and so we will make videos throughout the fall to let each other (and anyone else) know what's going on in each country." They make videos weekly.
