There's a Blood Moon on the Rise

So, I'm feeling a little tired this morning, as last night I did something I haven't done in a long time. I went to sleep early, but that's not the point. I set my alarm clock for 2 AM and despite the intermittent cloud cover I still lugged my tired ass out of bed and found a comfortable spot outdoors to watch the lunar show. Armed with nothing but a warm hoody and my iPod (and…See More

Five Best Friends on TV

Television is filled with memorable characters, some good, some bad, and some are people who you wouldn't mind being friends with in real life. They are the crazy, the cool, the funny, and sometimes the downright weird. So in celebration of the recent loss of two of my favorite TV friends (see No. 4) I want to present a list of what I consider to be the top five ultimate best friendships on TV, past or present.Honorable Mentions: Corey Matthews and Shawn Hunter (Boy Meets World); Jerry Seinfeld…See More

How Neil deGrasse Tyson Made Me Cry

For anyone not watching the new Cosmos on Fox, you are missing out, and I say that sentence with none of my usual ironic bite or snarky superiority. I literally mean to say, you are missing out. I have nothing but praise for this series. I can't think of one thing wrong with it. I should probably just end my…See More

Pond of Consciousness: What Should this Blog be About?

It should probably be about Thanksgiving, what with the holiday coming up and all. There I go talking all timey-whimey-Matt-Smithish. I even said that last line in my head with a bad British accent. (cheerio, pip pip) Then again you can hardly blame me. I mean less than 24-hours ago I watched the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special and I am still on some kind of electric high. Geronimo.…See More

NJ Turns Up Nose at the Musk of Tesla

Little Known Fact: In his spare time Elon Musk is Iron Man, but with less alcoholism.Tesla Motors is well named, and I don't think even they realized how appropriate their moniker was until they tried to do business in New Jersey. As Nikola Tesla was once exploited and cheated by Thomas Edison on the soil of Menlo Park, Tesla Motors has now found itself betrayed…See More

7 Shows that Should be Made

NBC announced this past week that they will reboot Heroes, the only show in TV history that has the distinction of imploding into a pile of ash and debris quicker than the Death Star, (ironically, due to a singular fatal weakness, an inability on the writers part to plan for anything after the first season.) And much like the Galactic Empire, NBC has seen fit to try again on their ultimate planet destroying idea. Thus, barring an unexpected rebel attack, we will be looking at a 13-episode…See More

Eulogy for a Ghostbuster

Harold Ramis was an actor, director, writer, and of course a fellow human being, but some people may wonder why I would chose to memorialize a man I never met. After all he was just another Hollywood guy, right? Why should I be so touched by the lose of another actor? I didn't even bat an eyelash when Philip Seymour Hoffman died. I never spent an entire blog post going on…See More

Walking Morality

A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality. -Winston Churchill Unlike many others, I came late to The Walking Dead. I did not watch the first or the second seasons live (pardon the pun) and even during the third I found myself binge watching to…See More

The Cliff Test

Batman passes The Cliff Test Before I begin let me clarify a few things. I will not be talking about a test based upon the dad from the Cosby Show (whose names was not Bill, nor [paradoxically] was his last name Cosby.) I will also not be talking about a test based upon a big red dog, (that would be a Clifford Test,) or the main antagonist of Back to the…See More

An awesome one
About Me:
I am a writer, blogger, and I have been a nerd longer than I have been alive (but then I guess that opens up the argument of "when does life begin," which is way more of a philosophically and politically charged question than I wish to get into in this small little description.) Sufficed to say, I may or may not have been trying to swing a lightsaber while in the womb.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
LOTR, Star Wars, Comics, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Farscape, Firefly, Comics, Colbert, Foo Fighters, BSG, GOT (is that really going to be the new abbreviation for Game of Thrones?); and anything else that encourages the use of a wand/staff/sword/blaster/bow and/or arrow/ and a close examination of humanity's condition/history/culture through a lens of imagination and awesomeness... and comics...
