Regarding your comment about my "Shoes" photo: The whole time I was in that old house taking those photos, that's honestly all I could think about, especially in the room where I took the photo of the bed. I kept wondering when the last time was that someone actually slept in that bed and thought of that space as cozy, and comfortable, and "home." I also usually find myself envisioning stories in my head of what the places used to be like, with people bustling around the house, little kids chasing each other up and down the stairs, maybe a housewife coming in from the garden and taking her shoes off and setting them beside the bed to take a quick rest. I also tend to anthropomorphize places like that simply because they exude such a sense of history and because they usually hold such intimate pieces of someones life, such as clothes and shoes...things like that.

And, I really like that you used the word "disconnect." That word really sums up what happens to those old abandoned places.

Shouldn't I be over this by now?
