EDIT 9/13/2011:
I made something for LIGHTS! :D
--------------------- Older
Alone on the horizon of space, above the bonds of humanity, we gaze at the sunrise.. and cannot help but wonder what lies beyond.
Hey it's Chris.. I'm a nerd.
Hey everyone, i'm chris.. i'm new here.
Ah, being a nerd is so awesome. Sometimes awkwardness takes you over.. and you feel like there is no way you can really get those thoughts out of your head and onto the screen in a form that will give the reader the impressions you want to give them. I've just given up, many times. I think the issue is that you can actually try *too* hard. For example, I'm constantly worried I'll say it wrong, give the wrong meaning etc. It's a major source of irritation for me. It's not lack of self esteem that I'm talking about, or too much of it. Rather, it's the difficulty of transferring the real me to someone else.
Not some false front that i am incapable of living up to. It's very easy to brag.. but do I risk seeming to act 'above' other people equally intelligent? People like you for who you are. Not for the cool places you've been (or pretended to have been) or the music you like. It is the mind that counts. Some things are personal. Those should be kept to yourself, but shared if you are asked.. and don't feel bad about telling. If a person will not accept you for who you really are, then attempting friendship with them is frankly, not a good idea.
I'll finish this thought later... lol
But meh.. about me.. what can i say.
I'm awkward, I love Star Trek with a passion, I dream of setting my feet on martian dust someday (though sitting at one of those mile-long rows of computers at NASA HQ would do as well, I'm not picky) and in the meantime, I push my way through school in the hopes that someday I will reach my larger dreams. I also enjoy making 3D artwork of various sorts, along with that i have acquired 2D and audio skills as well, I'm a multimedia jack-of-all-trades. These are just hobbies.. but i love developing my artistic senses, it is great being able to express a concept through realistic art..
I have done some web design and promotional work, in volunteering for the Vegatrek project (an open source flight sim set in the Star Trek universe) i am developing and maintaining the new project site (http://vegatrek.sourceforge.net/)
I've composed some (apparently electropop) tracks in a WIP album which i work on sporadically, in whatever free time my other duties/hobbies leave me. I'll not likely get anywhere in that area though.. it's just fun to make the music. lol.
I'm not here to advertise myself.. but just so i don't have to give links any time i'm asked, here's some random stuff.
3D Portfolio... here on the ning :)
My Art Blog (it's not very active. sigh.)
I am a very quiet person in real life, (fine, fine, i mean SHY. deathly shy.) With that said, I love talking with people. Ideally about meaningful subjects, though a bit of entertainment is good and well :)
I built the computer i'm currently running, from scratch..

I love how it performs, i'm able to be far more creative in art design :)
Lastly.. anyone that i take a liking to, is a friend for life. I honestly love all of my fellow nerds, keep on being awesome :) Really good friends know a lot more about me than i can make myself tell in public... If you want some serious chat about life, philosophy and the general universe... then I'd love to talk. :)
And don't ever feel like you're an outcast of humanity. People look up to uniqueness.. just be your nerdy self and shout "This is who I am. I've got that right." (to be yourself) Show what nerdy really means. All those other dudes will work for you someday.
TTFN.. (yes, that was 100% a tigger reference)

The only requirement that means it is *not* absolutely anything, is that it must be LESS boring…

As much as we all try to avoid bias.. a few specific ones always seem to remain engrained within us. Obviously, different ones stay with different people.. Depending on their situation. E.g. a person living in a country engaged in defensive war is more likely to feel anger towards the enemy than an isolated, stable country. But even that may be the wrong usage of the term.. biased in of itself, in a way. Can a 'country' be summed up in that way? Is it about a Borg-like collective,…
