What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Grammar & computer-building geek; book-reading, dog-training nerd
About Me:
Been called either a nerd or a "tomboy" all my life. I wear glasses & like things that girls aren't supposed to, like science, science fiction, being outdoors, building things, guns, bulding my own computers, etc. etc....
Favorite things to do: dog agility, photography, hiking, reading, geocaching, playing computer games, messing about with computers, reading, gardening, writing....
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
Way way too many to list 'em all.... a sampling, or the tip of the iceberg:
"To Say Nothing of the Dog" and "Doomsday Book", Connie Willis; "Kim", Rudyard Kipling; anything by Diana Wynne Jones; the Aubrey/Maturin series, Patrick O'Brian; the "Sharpe" series, Bernard Cornwell; the Harry Potter series; "How to Talk so Kids Will Listen, and Listen so Kids will Talk", Faber and Maslich; "Schutzhund Obedience: Training in Drive", Sheila Booth & Gottfried Dildei; "Dicey's Song", Cynthia Voight; "Moon of Three Rings", Andre Norton; "Rabbit Hill", Robert Lawson; "The Scent of Water", Elizabeth Goudge; "The Phantom Tollbooth"; almost anything by Rosemary Sutcliff....
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
My glasses. My face _is_ part of my head, after all..... Oh, you meant the TOP of my head? Well then, my Welsh baseball cap that my dad gave me years ago.
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
My dog Rocsi, who died 18 months ago.
When did you start watching B20
November
Random favorite quotes:

"Love is not some wonderful thing that you feel, but some hard thing that you do" - Elizabeth Goudge

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find you get what you need" - Mick Jagger

"First they came for the Communists - but I was not a communist so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists - but I was neither, so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Jews - but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out.
And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me" - Martin Niemoller

"Don't count your boobies before they're hatched" - James Thurber (from "The Unicorn in the Garden")

Hi, thanks for visiting and commenting, it's lovely to meet a fellow sunset chronicler. My husband thinks I should keep the moth fetish on the low-down, lest people think I'm odd. Ha! I'm beyond worrying about such trifles. He's such a good sport, though, building me moth habitats and putting up with coccoons in the kitchen!
I came looking for your sunset and old building photos, but was happy to see the puppies and beaver photos. I'll be watching for new additions. I grew up on the Delmarva peninsula; all my family is still there, so I am a frequent visitor to BWI airport. I will be there Monday, bringing my crappy IL weather with me, sorry! I seem to arrive with monsoon rains often, but they make for amazing sunsets!

thanks! taking pictures of bees takes a lot of patients, at least with my camera. It is one of those digitals that waits about a second between when you push the button and when it actually takes the picture. For people, that is fine, but bees just don't wait around. And they really don't like it when the flash goes off :-)

Funny, I was going to add you as a friend - I mean, you're a fellow grammar nerd, we have to be friends! haha

There is a nerdfighter on here who is very nice and wonderful and is my friend, and I have been SO wanting to talk to her about her horrible spelling, but I can't bring myself to do it because, 1) she knows she has horrible spelling, but obviously doesn't think it's all that important because things that would be easily found with spellcheck aren't, and 2) I can't figure out how to do it in a really helpful, friendly, non-judgmental seeming way.

I mean, if she doesn't know already that spelling is important, that people DO judge you for poor spelling, and people tend to think of you as less intelligent (even though I know that may not be true at all - I've known some very intelligent horrible spellers!), well, I don't know if me telling her will convince her or just discourage her. I want to do it as a friend, though. But in doing it, I fear I may lose a friend. It's a conundrum!

Anyway, I digress!! (It's what I do best, actually - ha.)

So, is your screen name (before aka Sarah) Welsh? or one of those similar Celtic/Gaelic languages? I've always loved those...

Ooohh! 'How to Talk.../How to Listen..." is one of my favorites too! It's also one of the books that I reread at least once or twice a year.
