What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Artist Nerdfighter
About Me:
I'm a non-professional artist. I do mostly collage and painting but will do just about anything else when the spirit moves me. Never professional. I'm a commit-o-phobe, big time. I want ME to be in charge of my creative output. I'm a social person who needs a LOT of time alone. Not a joiner. This is first online thing I've EVER been involved with. FUN. Thanks guys. An Atheist. OLD - 60. When did that happen?! Never mind. No kids of my own but others' have always come here to play with me and do art projects. Enough? Bi-lingual. Spent my 20's in the Netherlands, my thirties in NYC, half my forties in NJ, then back home to LA at 45.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
I've hated choosing favorites since I was a tiny tot. It makes me think I only get to keep the one I choose and I want them ALL. OK. I'll try. Harry Potter natch. Dostoyvsky, Robertson Davies, Huxley, recently - John Lanchester "The Debt to Pleasure", actually all of his. "Amsterdam" by Ian McEwan - Funny! Will Self! Very funny. Oh EVERBODY. Leave me alone!
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
Well if I can't put the sorting hat on my head, then let it be - a world globe.
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
John and Hank, duh!
When did you start watching B20
July

SCANNER ART

Gonna stick these up here in one place. These were created by layering stencils (usually used so there are some paint blobs on 'em) onto the scanner, probably putting a solid color piece of paper on top and scanning them in. Some have Photoshop filters on them and some not. You can tell which. I'll put one on this post and the rest into comments.… Continue

THE NOT SO DAILY DOODLES

You know, Jared Knight was right about these little 3x5 cards. They really are interesting to do. I watch them happening and this sort of lexicon developing and I have no idea where it's all coming from. I don't think they really look like the rest of the stuff I do but maybe the shapes are similar. The limitations of just the black sharpie on the white card makes you do the dots and stripes thing, or makes ME do that. Somebody else might do complex cross-hatch shading or something. I've tried v… Continue

Summer in the City

OK. I've promised myself that I wouldn't bitch about the heat this year, especially because right up until yesterday summer has been very merciful. Marine layer "June Gloom" right through August. It is now HOT and will be until Halloween. But I am really not going to bitch about it because I am NOT one of the firefighters that are in the middle of THIS! These are shots I just took from my neighborhood. I have never seen it like this. I'll just put the first shot here then add more in the Comment… Continue

I never thought I would see a 61 year old nerdfighter. Then again, I don't think anyone expected an 11 year old nerdfighter either... Yet here I am. I bet we have a lot in common. ♠=♥

Ha ha, just found out you got those leaves from you tube! I had other vids, so I posted a second for you. I thought you just got the stills from my blogger blog, though I didn't recognize the one on your screen. How do you take stills from you tube? I'm still trying to remember how to take a screen shot from my own pc. duh. anyway, enjoy my fall, i'm taking a zillion pics, posting the best here and there. Don't blog much here anymore, not sure why.. I have one more series to share with you - wait - lemme get one -there its uptop and its one tree, every freaking color. I'm thinking about a vid montage of my fall on youtube - in my spare time - HA!

My leaves and I are honored! Glad you visited my other home away from home. I'm really getting scattered on the world wide web, still haven't found the host site that says this is it. I wish wish wish the picture looked as good as in real life. Or maybe I'm just altered and think everything looks more amazing than the camera shows? Is it scary that I've taken about 1500 pictures since June? Is it scarier that I keep score?
Hope you're fitting some art time into your days!

Sooo ... I want to make a thread here on the ning about the stuff with my mom but it appears the gerd group has too many folks I don't know. I just don't want people I've never had contact with to have access to this stuff. I'd make it on my page but I really don't want ALL of my ning friends to have access to it. Any suggestions? I was thinking a temporary private group but I'd feel badly for making yet another page on the ning for folks to have to check!

stalker alert, I just read your comment to E and am so happy for your new/old bike acquisition! There is nothing like a simple, sturdy bike with a basket! One of the state parks by my mom has bikes for loan ie free to ride the sandy trails and they were like riding a cadillac, smooth, sturdy, uncomplicated. i felt free for the first time in years. Now I covet one, and am sad i bought one with 8 more speeds than I know how to use that hurts my butt to boot - What i really want is the red one at the park. And to feel the wind in my hair as I pedal, free as a bird, without a thought in my head or a care in the world. Sigh.
you have a bike with a basket, I have equal amounts of joy and envy!

Good morning!
We have an art emergency that I posted about in the Art Nerd Thread. Your halp would be much appreciated if you have any ideas. :)

Hope your Sunday morning is good. I am lazing about, getting caught up on the computer and doing some art journaling. I'm taking a new class with Julie Prichard and it looks quite promising. Already learned something new -ghost writing using glazing medium on top of acrylic. Who knew?! There is also a free watercolour class that I am trying to kinda follow along with, although I know watah-colahs are not really for me. You have to work too clean and precise, and that is simply beyond me most days. But I can still dabble and play around with them a bit. They were the first type of painting I was ever interested in (until I found out about the pesky clean and precise thing!). I made a set of Pirates of Penzance paper dolls with them back in the day...NERDY, nerdy, nerdy.

The boys are doing well. The beginning of grade 4 has definitely been less stressful for them than the beginning of grade 3 (when I had to pick L up from school every day, because he was fainting from anxiety!). I think it is because of all the extra help and accommodation they are getting (mom's hard work pays off, yay!). The health stuff for the DH is still up in the air. More appointments at the end of the month. Trying not to think about it, like Scarlett.

How's about you?

I'm such an art noob, had never seen paper collage like this before, thought you might like it, btw I went to 2 art festivals this summer and picked up a bunch of cards with web links, so much time to waste drooling over art....I'll blog about it when life slows down a little!
