Hey, so recently I was told that for a creative writing/literature degree I need some form of portfolio, or collection of work I've done and the only thing I can think of that would really stand out…Continue

Eloise Pearson commented on Eloise Pearson's blog post You Only Live Once: I Am Not A Hipster.Young Adult novels have had their fair share of slander over the years, but should a novel aimed a specific audience really be disregarded because of said audience? I’m not arguing that we should take ‘Twilight’ and put it up there with canon literature but sometimes I can’t help but get the impression there is a certain amount of snobbery associated with the genre, especially when it comes to the romances. I get the feeling the reason for this is big cooperate book stores and their…

So as a sixteen year old girl, there’s an awful lot I don’t understand about the world, and one of life’s most prominent enigmas for me is the mentality of the opposite sex. I physically do not understand them, the choice is quite simple, do you like me or do you not? Is there some kind of mating dance I’m missing out on, some form of code word or hand gesture you’re using to express your interest instead of just god damn saying it? Am I missing the part where you act like you like me then…

I’m not keeping with my weekly bloggers challenge very well so here’s a short one for you:
Why is it we’re never sad about the things we should be? I get it it’s all subjective but it’s really messed up when you think on it. I could be sad about so many things right now; pollution, disease, death, it’s not like there’s a shortage of things to be upset over but I’m not. I’m sad because of one throw away comment somebody made of no real importance which isn’t a tragedy, it isn’t…

So I’m not going to lie whenever I see ‘#YOLO’ on teenagers in crop tops, Twit Picturing an extra tall Starbucks with the caption ‘omg, so many calories, but YOLO guys!’ I’m not going to lie I actually get the physical urge to smash my face repeatedly into a desk, or other inanimate object that so happens to be nearby. I promise this isn’t turning into some kind of anti-hipster movement, but the whole concept of teenage girls in YOLO tee shirts really pisses me off, because it seems like…

Sophie Rose said… Hey, Eloise,
I don't know if you're still looking for a pen pal, but if you are, I would love to write to you. I'm 15 years old, and I live in Los Angeles (in the United States). I love reading, history, and museums. I can either email or write real letters, but I think real letters would be especially cool. Let me know if you're interested!

Daniel said… Understandable. Your hair on your facebook profile picture is a whole lot more 'woosh' or poofy, in some sense.
