Laura replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"It depends. When I'm writing poetry I prefer typing because I can get all of the words out quicker than if I were actually writing, which is good because then I don't lose the feeling or feelings that inspired the poem. For schoolwork I…"

Marigrace replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"For school, definitely typing. Especially in lectures, where I can type faster than I write. Also, my handwriting is atrocious. For creative writing, it depends on the type of writing. Often times I'll be writing longhand in my journal and…"

"Now I'd have to choose something different. I really like gregg shorthand, even though I'm still learning it. I love taking notes in gregg shorthand. But since I'm not the best at it, I'd say typing. I type almost entirely with…"

Crazylele1 replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"I like to write longhand if I have a good flow going. If I want to think a lot about what I'm writing then I normally will go into word and type and edit at the same time. Oh question! Pen or pencil? Personally I like pens because I find I…"

猫 Dan replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"It's interesting that a lot of people are saying that writing longhand helps the flow of their ideas. It's quite the opposite for me really. I can type almost as fast as I think, so for me the transfer from thought to words is a lot…"

Phil Johnson replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"I'm definitely a typer. Learned how when I was really young and grew up in front of a computer. But I always have a notebook with me to capture ideas, so I do a lot of longhand too. The big problem is when I can't read my own writing later."

Dan Augusta replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"I type schoolwork. Even for creative purposes, songwriting is really the only thing for which I write by hand. I have a notebook specifically for that purpose. If I'm writing prose of some kind, which I don't do as much anymore, I'll…"

Jessica Lopez replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"Whenever I am writing something, whether it be for school or pleasure, i always write it on paper first. i just cant seem to get anything right when i type it out first. I get distracted and worse writer's block than I do while writing longhand."

"I very much prefer writing. I just think it is quicker and easier, and usually easier for me to personaally keep track off."

Sarah Conard replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"I'm really torn when it comes to that. For school, I need to type out papers. It's just my brain's default setting. For writing my short stories/novels/etc., I go 50/50. I'll type a lot, but if I end up starting something with…"

ProudR/HrShipper replied to Fiona's discussion Longhand or typing?
"Most of my every-day school work is done longhand, mostly because we don't get to use laptops in class. :P But if I'm given the opportunity, I'll type pretty much anything. The exception to this rule is fanfiction - I almost always…"

Longhand or typing?

I have a question for all writing Nerdfighters- do you prefer writing longhand or typing it out on the computer. For school I type for the most part. However, for creative purposes I prefer suing a pen and paper. I just like the feeling I get when I think I'm writing something good, which doesn't seem liek it would translate over to the computer to me. Which do you prefer?See More

Fiona replied to Emma Young's discussion If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
"I would go to Dublin, Ireland. No particular reason. I just feel the need to go. Same with Paris, London, and Seattle. If I could go to any place I've already been to, it would be Austin. I'd like to explore it more thoroughly."

What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Music and history nerdfighter
About Me:
I have an obsession with music. Currently, I'm really into Wizard rock recently which is probably related to my obsession with Harry Potter. I also enjoy Pokemon, Harvest Moon, and Phoenix Wright. Those are all video games in case you didn't know that.

I live in the exotic state of Missouri. I would like to live in Paris, France or in London. Someplace big.

I also seem to know an odd amount of history. And I enjoy learning about history. So history is my other academic interest. I like math and English, but I'm not particularly passionate about them. I'm passionate about music and I find history and educational systems very interesting.

I find a lot of things interesting. A true Ravenclaw.

In other words, I'm awesome.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
Harry Potter, Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines, Planet Janet, Princess Diaries, Animal Farm, The Book Thief, the Thirteenth Tale, and more
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?

If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
Good question...

Yay for weekends! And books!

So I have nothing whatsoever planned except to read and possibly learn how to crochet. I have too much I want to read and not enough time during the week to read. So I guess I'll talk about everything I need to read or have the desire to read. I am sorry but it's early and I don't' feel like going to get the books to write the authors.

Things Fall Apart This is for English class. I really don't feel like reading it because it's just not what I'm in the mood for right now. It appeals… Continue

Apparently this is what I do when I am bored in class..

Today is Monday. Today is awesome. Today is awesome because of coffee cake and chocolate cake.

^Look parallelism!

This past week has been okay, I guess. I got to hang out with my friends last weekend. That was fun. We walked to Casey's and I got coffee. We also went to McDonald's which was okay even though I'm not really found of McDonald's. It was really nice of my friend's mom to pay for dinner.

I do not like Human Communications. It seemed especially long… Continue

"People don't change/People don't change/Stop running/It's you you're running from..."

So recently I've become obsessed with wizard rock. To the point it's pretty much all I want to listen to. For example, I really like Ministry of Magic. So whenever I'm at the computer I'm generally listening to Ministry of Magic. If not, I'm listening to something related, like another wizard rock band. If I'm not at the computer, I'm thinking a wizard rock song.

By the way, The song is "Snape vs Snape" by Ministry of Magic. Just in case you wanted to know.
