Oh, it totally is. Buffet-style fast/fried food. Mmmmmm... There is a salad bar that gets passed up by every kid, and there isn't any sort of policy requiring the kids to get veggies from it. I don't blame the kids, though, since it usually looks...

About Me:
I earned a B.A. in Politics with a minor in History in May 2008 (I wrote a forty-plus page thesis comparing Stoicism and Utilitarianism). I'm taking two years off to study for and take the standardized tests I need to apply to the graduate programs I'm looking into (law and public policy) and then apply to said programs. But I have a job as a Para-Educator (basically an aid) in a special education classroom, so it isn't like I'll just be farting around the whole time. And I'm not even living with my parents, fancy that! I'm pretty open and like learning and hearing about any and everything, but politics and civil rights are big passions of mine. I have eclectic tastes, as demonstrated by my playlist. I like debate, but only when it's productive and civil and about the ideas and not the people. I hate cancer. I'm Native American, although I don't look it upon first glance because my hair and skin are light. Uh... I really dislike these "about me" sort of things... My blog is just that, a blog, so if you don't agree with what I say, that's fine, just don't be a jerk about it; and also keep in mind that it's sometimes written in the throws of emotion or in the midst of a long thought, so if I ramble or rant, and if that bothers you, don't read. Otherwise, comment and what-have-you as much as you like.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
I guess I'll list some (and in no particular order): The Last Unicorn (Peter S. Beagle); White Mare's Daughter (Judith Tarr); Sabriel (Garth Nix-- and the others weren't as good); His Dark Materials series (Phillip Pullman); The Odessey and Iliad (Homer); Histories (Heroditus); The Twelve Caesars (Suetonius); Meditations (Marcus Aurelius); Second Treatise on Government (John Locke); Utilitarianism and On Liberty (John Stuart Mill); The Belgariad and The Malloreon (David Eddings); Limbo (Alfred Lubrano); The Stranger (Albert Camus); The Crooked Timber of Humanity and Four Essays (Isaiah Berlin); Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (Christopher Moore); and yeah... lots lots more.

Labor Day: The War on Work

It's a little lengthy, but poignant. Bless Mike Rowe, bless him so much:

I don't think I need to add all that much, really. I mean, he says it pretty nicely in the last five minutes. The War on Work is directly related to things I have blogged about before with regards to poverty and the working class: poverty is a joke to mainstream society; and it's fun and cool to wear a John Deere shirt and tattered jeans to Starbucks, but that person would never dream of driving a tracto… Continue

In Memoriam, Teddy Kennedy

I wrote most of this the day his death was announced but kept it as a draft because I was supposed to be getting ready for work. Like the O.J. Simpson piece I did a while back, this was mostly from memory, but any facts can be verified by the Wiki page.

Whether a person agreed with the policies and agendas Ted Kennedy championed, it is impossible to deny a simple fact: he was one of the mos… Continue

I'm feeling lots better, but have been really busy. I love your video on the war on work by the way. Totally worth the 20 minutes, or however long it is.

It was a National Review article which was so credible that it talked about Anita Dunn praising Mao (hence the clarification of the quote).

Sanity is for the weak... ;)

And don't worry, I haven't talked to you in ages either. I can understand you not wanting to spend all your time on the computer (even though I do it...) and I definently see the importance in you getting your application properly done. You focus on that until it's done and don't worry about me. I won't fall apart when you're not looking. :) I hope you won't either.

Actually the different Loyola schools are not affiliated with one another. It's a common misconception. They are named after the same saint but they have nothing to do with one another. I go to the LA Loyola (which is the best one in my opinion).

Yeah the who application process pretty much sucks. I was bitter that no only did I have to register with the LSDAS but I had to pay them for each application they sent out materials with.

Things with me are good. School has kept me really busy but I've managed to have some fun and hung out with Molly when time/us being in the same state permits it. I went to this yesterday with Molly: http://www.paulandstorm.com/gigs/w00tstock/ it was pretty awesome. All and all life is not too bad.

Sorry for the long absence.

Anyway, if he likes guns, then he'll love Resident Evil 5, The Orange Box, Fallout 3, Gears of War, (Halo not so much), um...I'm sure there's more, but the ones I just listed are pretty much all must haves for the 360.

But, whatever, how have you been?
